I listen to all kinds of music. I try not to limit myself as I am always interested in discovering a new sound to move to. As of late I am enjoying the Gorillaz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay-Z, Blues Traveler, Counting Crows, DJ Icey, Jack off Jill, Leonard Cohen, Linkin Park, Massive Attack, Nas, Panic! at the Disco, The Prodigy, Stabbing Westward, System of a Down, Tenacious D, Wolfsheim, Wumpscut, WU-Tang Clan, and the list goes on. I want to send out some love to my friends the Shiny Toy Guns, as well as Anatomy of Her. You guys are awesome and I'm very lucky to have you all as friends. Oh yeah, and if your ever lucky enough you will hear my mixes. Special shout out to the Physical Onions, watch me rock the kazoo.
I am going to continue to write in the movie section, reviews of films I have seen. I figure since I write screenplays I might as well write reviews to those that I have seen. I figure this may help in understanding what does and doesn't work in a film and how best to incorporate these methods in my own stories in making them my own. So I hope you enjoy it, maybe it will help being that we all go to the movies sooner or later. Alright...Love ya bitches. This review the movie is:The Fountain: Now I know a lot of you may have seen this movie and did not like it. Well tough shit, I loved it. For those of you that do not know what this movie is about I'll fill you in. The film takes place through the course of three life times and the love that binds those lives together. The first is during the Spanish inquisition where we meet Thomas, a conquistador and Elizabeth, the Queen of Spain. Spain is under attack from within by the church due to the queens "Heresy" for her search to find the fountain of youth. She sends Thomas on this quest with the promise that when he discovers the tree of life she will be his Eve and he her Adam. Interesting. Next story we meet yet again Thomas and Lizzy. Lizzy is dying of cancer and Thomas is her lover who without hesitation bends his emotional restraints to uncover the cure. Yet again involving the tree of life in his quest for answers. Lastly we have Tommy the Astronaut who travels through space in a physically welded force of energy emitted by the focal source which is the tree of life. He travels though space looking for the nexus to which all life was born, carrying the essence of all mankind including his beloved Izzy. Pretty deep stuff, not to mention it carries with it a beautiful execution of Cinematography, acting, and a breath taking score. A little bit of background about this picture is that the director, Darren Aronofski struggled for years to make this film. After such success as Pi, and Requiem for a dream. Darren soon became the most sought after director in Hollywood. Only that was ten years ago and has gone through such leading men as Brad Pitt who locked into the project after reading only the first 40 pages. He still remains friends with him to this day but was unable to complete the project after numerous financial struggles through the films pre production. Finally through the support of Regency Entertainment the film was made at less than half of it's original budget green lit by Warner Bros. This film is intense, not in a tits and explosions way. But in a deeply rooted emotional way. It is a movie that challenges the perception of time, life and death. And tests the boundaries of the human soul and its capacity for love. If you have ever found in yourself the desire to explore these things to the limits of your imagination, then I would recommend you see this picture. Or maybe I'm just an asshole who wasted five minutes of your time reading this. Either way, check it out and get back to me.
