artist bioRene Halligan....woman....painter....healer.... resides in the Catskill village of Walton, New York and in Hernando County, Florida's Nature Coast in the Withalacoochee river basin. She gathers inspiration from her surroundings and through self exploration. In September 2007, Rene, began painting with oils.. inspired by long time friend and artist, Ty Steinbacher...She explores the art of being a woman, advancing age and the feelings of menopause, with thick paint, vibrancy, and motion. Some of her paintings reflect feelings of angst and others pure joy......A vivid painter, this emerging outsider is only formally educated in the healing arts, working as a registered nurse for almost all of her life. Her style is all about expression of emotion, painting her feelings of the day in a series of self portraits and a variety of other subjects. No matter what subject an artist chooses, the one theme that is the most revealing is the self-portrait. Self-portraits are not just a reflection of what the artist looks like but also of how the artist interprets themselves and the world around them.
