Sideburners

It all began in the autumn of 1994 in a little town called Avesta in Sweden. A couple of guys who all played in different groups already, but wanted to play a little more slower and heavier, got together and formed the group who later became Sideburners. At first we played some sort of heavy speed metal similar to Pantera and so on. At that time the groupmembers consisted of Nico, Flugan, Kjelle, Duke and Christer on drums. We did some gigs in ”Musikhuset”(a local music association) and in ”Folkets park”. We played our own songs and covers by Pantera and Motorhead. We didn´t have so much songs at that time, so we had to play some covers to fill out the time, but what the heck! Well, we get good response from the audience. The winter between -94/-95 we went to the studio for the firts time. We had to have a demotape. So we packed two cars and drove to studio Abyss. At that time the studio where located in a small room down in a cellar, not like it is today, but it was cozy and Peter Täktgren took good care of us, tough we drank a little too much beer! The offspring of that recording where named ”Checkpoint Universe” and the artwork where made by Moonfield. We did some more gigs and it was time to go in the studio again. Christer decided to leave the group and where replaced with Tella. We rehersed for some time and went to a studio outside Säter. The studio is quite special beacause all the gadgets is tubedriven! Even the microphones! And the demo from that place sounds like a recording from the 70´s, and we wanted that sound. But it was not quite the sound we where after, so after that we did our own recordings. The demo from that place has no name. And Tella leaved us shortly after. We asked our good friend Johan to join us, and he did! Now we change the music to a more heavier and slower direction, some call it stoner rock. We did some gigs on Bolanche and Cozmos in Borlänge. Kjelle who have been building up his own studio all these years, had been a very good producer and recorder, so we recorded our later works ourselfs in his studio called Black Lounge. Sadly no record company was interested in our music at that time so we decided to disband Sideburners after many years of Rock n Roll. I think it was back in 98 or something.
