Tommy Heart BiographyIn 1982, Tommy Heart’s remarkable singing career began in a West-Berlin school band. It was his first attempt at escaping from the ghetto of Gropiusstadt (part of Berlin), a first attempt to establish an existence away from the hardships of its everyday life. Tommy’s youth was typical for his environment, dotted with petty crimes, drug abuse, violence, all the things dictated by the law of the street.
He was given his first real chance in 1988 when he signed a contract with the renowned Heavy Metal label Noise Records - his band at that time: V2. When V2 blasted off with their first self-titled album, they soon found themselves supporting German icons and label mates Helloween, who were at the commercial peak of their career having just released their hugely successful album “Keeper Of The Seven Keys IIâ€. While actually still on tour in Europe, Tommy received an invitation from guitarist Zeno Roth and his band Zeno to put his vocal prowess to the test. Zeno had been signed by the American label Geffen Records - home to many unforgotten rock heroes such as Elton John, Cher, Michael Bolton, Aerosmith, Nirvana or Guns N’ Roses.
This business liaison led to many showcases and brought the band in touch with American manager Tom Zutaut, who had been personally responsible for the success of bands like Mötley Crüe, Guns N’ Roses and Tesla. Then in 1989, Zeno Roth surprisingly decided to back down from music business. That same year, Tommy and the rest of Zeno’s band laid down the foundation for a new group, the outstanding Fair Warning. After recording a few demos, the band received several offers from major labels, eventually opting for WEA. In 1992, their self-titled debut made a huge impact on the Japanese market, yielding fantastic sales figures. The band was even invited to tour the land of the rising sun; something definitely unusual for a newcomer band. To top it off, the band was awarded the „Brightest Hope Award 1992“ by the readers of the Japanese metal bible BURRN!
In 1993, Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth - one of the world’s most influential six stringers – was working on a concert performance of the „Symphonic Rock For Europe“. He was accompanying the Symphonic Orchestra Brussels on guitar interpreting various classical pieces. For the concert, which was later aired by WDR-Rockpalast, Tommy took over the role of lead vocalist from Cream icon and front man Jack Bruce at very short notice. This productive musical collaboration continued with the 1995 epic “Sky Of Avalon†which was very well received by media and fans alike. Tommy meanwhile participated in a singing contest organized by the company Gillette. He was finally chosen from among 300 contestants to sing their theme song „Gillette – für das Beste im Mann“. Thanks to Tommy’s distinctive, trademark voice, sales figures skyrocketed. Nonetheless, Tommy stayed true to himself knowing that an even broader success was just around the bend: the second Fair Warning album “Rainmaker†sold 65.000 units on its release day alone and marched straight up the charts. Two weeks later, the boys from Hanover received a gold award followed by another successful tour shortly after. The 1997 follow-up “Go!†also went gold, winning the prestigious “Album Of The Year†poll. In Europe, the band played live with big names like Status Quo, C.C.R. or Saga and was able to expand its fan base. In 1998, the amazing live album “Live & More†was released and the band once again took off for Asia – an exceptional tour on which Tommy again proved that he belonged in the ranks of the top singers and performers - just listen to the a cappella middle part of Fair Warning’s live classic “Don’t Give Upâ€.
In the meantime, Tommy not only learned to play guitar and keyboards but also honed his song writing skills. Tommy Heart is an exceptional live singer with a truly remarkable stage presence defined by a strong desire to entertain and captivate his audience. Following the release of the album “Fourâ€, Tommy decided to close the chapter of Fair Warning for the time being. A new group, Soul Doctor, was founded shortly after and to present day has released four albums brimming with high energy and raw power. With this kind of material on board, Soul Doctor has played the big festivals like „Wacken Open Air“, „Rock Of Ages“ and Sweden Rock“ and toured with many high profile acts such as Alice Cooper or legendary Rainbow and Black Sabbath singer Ronnie James Dio. Due to requests from fans all over the globe, Fair Warning triumphantly returned with the album „Brother’s Keeper“ in 2006. Again, the album turned out to be a great success in Japan followed by a sold-out tour. Tommy was heaved to a 3 spot in the “Best Singer 2006†category, thus outdoing Jon Bon Jovi, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Axl Rose and David Coverdale (Whitesnake).
The absolute rock summit had finally been reached. It was time for Tommy to turn towards new challenges. He wishes to break new ground with an album of his very own, firmly intending to not only take his old fans with him but also address a whole new audience. His outstanding and voluminous pipes along with his experience offer him the unique chance to interpret all different kinds of music. The following five songs bear witness to his enormous talent and also prove he has the right touch for picking out true ear candy: the majority of the material was written by internationally acclaimed songwriters, who have already written for the likes of Jeanette Biedermann, Marc Terenzi or the Swedish “Pop Idolsâ€. Tommy even delivers the classic Beatles tune “Help†in his own distinctive and very touching version – his interpretation of the song will truly conquer the hearts of many music fans around the world.
