It's magic being made of hard

About Me

With new album in the can and ready to be released, plus a string of interesting shows, commissions and side projects ( LCUK , The People People and Princess One Point Five ) The Mime Set are set for touring in Australia and Europe into 2008.
The supernatural intensity of The Mime Set's live shows has mesmerised audiences in headline slots and supports with Baseball, Sixfthick, Hugo Race & True Spirit, The Spoils and Silver Ray, plus special events like the National Gallery of Victoria's opening of the retrospective exhibition 'Bill Henson: Three Decades of Photography' and the Wellington, Adelaide and Melbourne Fringe Festival successes of their "soundtracked spoken word" collaborations 'Death To Your Dreams' and 'LCUK: Falling In and Out of Luck'.
Wall-of-noise guitar loops/fx and a tensile voice mark the fractured beauty of The Mime Set's debut EP 'sleeping is the hardest part' and the harder sounds on upcoming debut album 'Into The Water'.
The addition of a rhythm section, Justin Avery (ex- The Dumb Earth) on bass and Chris Chapple (ex-Autohaze) on drums, in late 2004, The Mime Set has created striking uneasy listening art-rock drawing comparisons to Kristin Hersch, The Dirty Three, Love Outside Andromeda and PJ Harvey.

Sounds Like: "the mime set primarily focus on creating tense, droning music that gracefully incorporates intricate guitar atmospherics ...each song is its own slowly-developing, yet altogether distinctive entity." - Splendid Zine

"… With a voice which sits somewhere between Katie Steele and Björk, ethereal, echoing, backwards guitars and an almost militaristic drum line, the mime set do enough with 13,000 Feet to warrant the listener's undivided attention - and a repeat listen, because like any good song, there are enough textures here to guarantee that you'll here something new during listen number two, three, four..." – Daniel Z, Beat Magazine

"…eloquent and beautiful… weaving raw emotions, and at times applying unsettling pop melodies, which leave you touched with awe and definitely moved…" – Sylvie Stern, BMA (Canberra)
