Blind Reverend Mac is a blues musician who seeks his musical roots in areas east of the Appalachian mountains. He has listened to pre war blues musicians in states like Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania. Reverend Mac took inspiration from those who wrote and performed ragtime, old time and vaudeville music styles in the so called Piedmont plateau at the foot of the mountains. Primarily the masters Blind Blake, Blind Boy Fuller and Mississippi John Hurt. He speaks warmly of Reverend Gary Davies as well.
But he is also inspired by delta blues men like Tampa Kid, Kokomo Arnold, Mance Lipscomb, Blind Lemon Jefferson and old timers like Charlie Poole & North Carolina Ramblers and the Delmore Brothers. The information Reverend Mac left us is extremely short and comes from and old interview, the only one ever done as far as we know. He constantly refuses to talk to media about his music. He does not talk to media at all!
The Reverend is kind of an obscure figure. You almost never find him playing gigs and it virtually impossible to locate the guy. The tracks you hear was done as part of the rare interview.
The unique pictures you see were also shot at that time. But at night. The night time is reverend time!
