About Me

I started making computer based music in '91 using an Amiga A500 and Soundtracker, a tad later I purchased a printer port sampler. I upgraded to OctaMed and a Yamaha PSS51 in '93. Then onto Cubase on PC in '95. During the formative PC years I purchased a QuasiMIDI TechnoX (which I still have) and I still used the Amiga alongside the PC as a 'hardware' sampler, but that all changed when VST arrived!I have produced tracks for various local bands and, as you can see from this site, I like to indulge in a tad of remixing. I won the 'Compressa' Computer Music magazine competition in '02, which got me a Terratec EWS88MT, which I also still use. I also produce my own electronic and guitar based music, some of which is available for free listen/download on my site, joeyschmidt.comI use Cubase SX3 for production and writing along with Absynth3, Vanguard and various other soft-synths from Computer Music, KVR Audio and ReFX . I also still have some hardware that has accumulated over the many years I've been doing this, check photos for more info.
