This is a little project I toughed out for the entire month of May. I call it "30 DAYS OF HEROES/VILLIANS"(I kinda robbed it from Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith's 30 days of night) sorry.
My goal was to draw a character concept everyday for an entire month. I was able to squeeze out 43 concept sketches (before you become a wise ass yes I know there were 31 days in may ... not 43 or 30).
I was gonna come up with all new ideas ... but I started to get a little stale ... so I pulled out all my old embarrassing drawings (thanks for saving them ma) and decided to evolve them. I took them and pushed them in entirely different directions.
In edition to the evolution of my old characters, I drew some characters from my dreams (yeah I know I’m fucked up ... and no I don’t need a psychiatrist ... I’m already an online Psychiatrist.), and some just popped in my head in what I like to call a daymare.
On the drawings I added some reference material (the reference material came from an idea to Google or Yahoo image search the old characters name and find two or three reference pictures that I could incorporate into the design) as well as clippings of my old drawings to see where they started out.
For your viewing pleasure I typed my handwritten notes I take while drawing, that way I don’t forget what I was thinking at that moment. I also pose questions to myself about the design as well as should I or shouldn’t I’s. I even critique my own work (“this sucks ass” ha ha ha). And sometimes I even write down the name of the song I am listening to if I have music playing cause sometimes it evokes a certain emotion.
“And though I’m no Olivia
they’d say before Sugar Ray
the thing wasn’t the ring
it was the play
so give me a stage
where this bull here could rage
and though I could fight
I’d much rather recite
That’s entertainment.”
Robert DeNiro “Raging Bull”
Enjoy, D

I like a little bit of everything ….
Oldies … thanks to my Mom … I grew up with an appreciation for good music Otis, Percy, Aretha, the Righteous Brothers and many more
Country … thanks to my Dad … and I’m talking about good ole country beer drinking, butt kicking, dead dogs, and broken hearts … not this new Justin Timberlake with a cowboy hat shit they play now
Classic … thanks to Benny “killer” and Ray “rat” … for showing me what GOOD music is … wouldn’t be the person I am today without it (and the first time I ever heard Walton and Johnson on 100.7 the tiger … I ain't ever been right since ha ha ha)
Rock … Lies, Lies, Lies …. Guns and Roses opened up a whole new world of musical taste for me
Rap … taught me to dance ha ha ha …and got me to expand my vocabulary and horizons … still don’t understand screw … I guess its pretty self explanatory … its screwed up … sounds like somebody dropped a cassette in a puddle of water and then tried to play it.
Alternative … the evolution of me … Pearl Jam “Ten” and “Nirvana “Nevermind”
And a whole world of things to follow …..
The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Led Zepplin … etc
60’s – where would we be without the classics that everyone rips off
70’s – the world in which I live … the best music ever
80’s – no matter how much it gets made fun of everyone loves it, sings it and dances to it
90’s – thank God for one hit wonders … great songs but whatever happened to albums?
00’s – I wish I could tell you what I like but there are too many categories.
