Wussy

Small but Loud, Cute but Mean

About Me

Wussy are not a retro group, they are not a producer’s project, they don’t sample the obvious and they don’t like Creed. Wussy are an original rock and roll group for the sons and daughters of no one, for those disenfranchised by marketing niches, reality TV and irony.Wussy’s music could be described as a cross between radio-friendly pop and noisy indie-rock, but that would be too easy. They don’t ride the fence between the two as much as crash and burn it down to roam free from one field to the next. Their ensemble approach to singing takes cues from Music From Big Pink more than Pet Sounds, and a guitar style that entices freshly poached fans to gather stage right to figure how this trio coaxes so much from so little. Since their spring ’01 debut, Wussy’s shows gave a much needed featherweight uppercut to a jaded and dated New York scene.Through dynamic tension, strict Japanese diet and a vigorous on-stage workout, Wussy is lean and stripped to the core, devoid of any "bigger is better" notions. They are compact, as all three are under 5’3’’ with a collective weight less than the average rock star’s inflated ego. Growing up small in a big world, their songs reflect that point of view. Little, but loud...they are the Wussy that roared.
