French maids and cheerleaders

Music:

I've had a hard time getting into anything new. Old stuff (it is long) Alan Lomax, Sublime Frequency stuff, Style Council, Air, Axelrod, Bowie, Beach Boys, Devo, Django, Gainsbourg and Bardot, Aznavour, Brian Wilson, Brian Eno, Beck, Belle and Sebastian, Blur, Can, Neu, Camper Van Beethoven, David Byrne, *Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club, Hank Sr., Gram Parsons (Burrito Bros Incl), *Nilsson!, Elvis Costello, *Jonathan Richman, Nick Lowe, Italian Soundtrack (although I know little), Prince and 80's funk sound (Gap Band, The Time), Orbison, Smiths, Morrissey, Stereolab, Television, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Some Nico, Vic Godard, XTC, Indi and Hindi-Pop and some other stuff not worth mentioning.

Movies:

Again, Ingmar Bergman because he makes ordinary life beautiful and Woody Allen because he makes Bergman funny. Krzysztof Kieslowski because he's hopeful, Fred and Ginger (all ten except Flying Down to Rio isn't as good), Adaptation, Brazil, Midnight Cowboy, Last Picture Show, Paul Newman, North by Northwest, Capucine, old fashioned epics (Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago), good sappy bonding movies (Fried Green Tomatoes, Driving Miss Daisy, Out of Africa [of sorts]), pretty movies (Juliet and the Spirits, In the Mood for Love, Ikiru) and several musicals (as long as the cheese-factor remains pretty low unless it gets totally out of control)and some others. Also, movies with titles such as My Stepmother is a _____, or I was a Teenage ______, and ______ of the Dead (ie Chicken Shack of the Dead, Pilates of the Dead, Nudist Colony of the Dead, etc..).

Television:

Martha and Sister Wendy Beckett
