About Me
Hailing from the South-East shores of the UK, Kenai are fast making waves all over the UK, with an energetic high octane live experience and two EP's already under their belt, this Pop/Metal six piece are a show your don't want to miss.
Upon release of their debut EP 'Ideas Are Bulletproof' the band warranted acclaimed response from local reviews, as well as a solid fan base among the Essex scene.
Armed with an outstanding production for such a early release in a bands career, Kenai stunned at every turn, evoking high profile shows all over Essex and London in support of upcoming bands such as Exit Ten, Beyond All Reason and many more.
Looking to step things into a new phase, the band took three months off to work on new material, staging the act for the follow-up to 'Ideas'.
Four months later the boys returned from Wales under the guiding wing of producer Neak Young at The Old School recording studio, with a record showing all the raw energy of 'Ideas' but with a new take on musical flair and maturity, incorporating sweeping harmonies, string laden breakdowns, crushing guitar work and clarity of vocals not usually associated with the style, the boys now prepare for what seems to be the ascent upwards for Kenai.
With the new EP now titled 'At Mercy's Hand' a release date is set and with merchandise and another short Northern tour planned, based on the success of the previous 'Essex Invasion' tour with Never Means Maybe ...
"Wowsers. It's rare that an unsigned band try and tackle such a vast and powerful sound and pull it off - and not just pull it off but excel at it at the same time. Kenai are kids, but you'd never, ever know. Recalling the sound of early Thrice - their riffs and song structures are absolutely spot on. There's energy in abundance and a general level of excitement that young bands struggle to portray on CD. Every song is a highlight. Kenai manage to nail a genre which is bursting at the seams with bands who fail to re-invent the wheel. This lot, somehow, manage to hit very hard and heavy yet don't lose sense of some very celever melodies. Best new band in Essex? Definitely. Best new band in the UK? The sky's the limit... 4.5/5"
"Essex screamo warriors, Kenai, have clearly decided that 2008 is going to be THEIR year. They're ridiculously tour-happy tykes for an unsigned band. With this quality, the sextet might get the recognition their hard work deserves. 7/10"
"With the release of their latest EP, At Mercy's Hand, Kenai have seized the genre by the scruff of the neck and propelled themselves to new dizzy heights in the UK metal pecking order. Trust us, these guys mean business and who's to bet that this EP doesn't form part of a full length release on a major label in the near future. Their portrayal of metal with the potential to be widely popular is on a par with the early works of Welsh wonders FFAF. Don't believe us?- buy the EP and prepare to be proven wrong."
"It's undeniable that Kenai have a great sound and a bag full of charisma but is this enough to set them apart from the over-swelling barrel of pop-screamo bands that have amounted already? 'At Mercy's Hand' suggests that they have the potential. Highlight song 'This Is Murder' will certainly be a favourite among listeners as it steams along with a momentum and sound not unlike that of early Blindside. 'The Six Hundred' shows diversity with throaty roars worthy of any metal frontman but without losing the slick, radio-friendly sound that the band have established. The real promise lies in the age of this band. Being so young and just starting out on the long and tracherous road of finding fame will definitly be an advantage. Real promise is shown here as is a definite talent for song writing." in:eXhale Magazine
