About Me

Smooth and easy best describes the lush vocals of Canada’s hottest reggae gem, Kenny Blake. Fusing the classic sounds of traditional rock steady and Philadelphia classic soul, Blake introduces a delightful look into the socially conscious mind of today’s reggae music, with his chart climbing anthem “God Bless The Children”, produced by reggae music generals Sly and Robbie.
Hailing from the nation’s capital, Ottawa, Kenny Blake boasts a rich Jamaican and Vincentian heritage nursed by his socially conscious parents, Dr. and Mrs. Blake. Watching his family operate soup kitchens and care for the mentally challenged, has groomed Kennys’ heart for todays conscious lyrics which entertain the mind and feed the soul of fans across the nation.
Growing up in the suburbs, Kenny experimented with gospel music and found tremendous success in the black church community. “The melodic combination of romantic lovers rock, reggae & inspirational music, is what best describes my primary sound”, comments Blake. “I have studied the vinyl of icons like Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs, and Dennis Brown. I have always embraced their legacy in every way”.
Within the inspirational scene, sharing the concert stage with Grammy award winning vocalists like Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker and Fred Hammond has established Kenny Blake’s foundation in connecting with the hearts and souls of people everywhere.
Kenny Blake has connected with crowds in North America. He has performed with international dancehall masters Papa San, Stitchie, Carlene Davis and Judy Mowatt. Pop and blues divas, Celine Dion and Jackie Richardson, have also collaborated with the smooth impact of Kenny Blake’s vocals while touring in Canada.
The debut single “God Bless The Children” features a fascinating mix of Kenny’s musical character. Producers Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Gwen Stefani, Peter Tosh, Gregory Isaacs and Paul McCartney) unfold a laid back neck moving rhythm that brags of contemporary reggae.
“Working with Sly and Robbie is a blessing from God. I am confident my music and lyrics will move people to ponder life, while giving them authentic smooth vibes that can stand the test of global reggae music lovers.” Blake notes.
No stranger to the silver screen, Kenny Blake worked on made for tv specials “Sins of the Father” and Vision TV’s “The Gospel Challenge”. Partnering with mega producer, Rodney Jerkins (Brandy, Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige), Kenny recorded vocals on the Universal soundtrack for the movie “Honey” with Damian Marley, Missy Elliot and Genuine.
Kenny Blake represents Canada’s future offering to the reggae and world music scenes. Laced with youth, vibe and social consciousness, Kenny Blake is positioned to take the industry by storm while depositing calm in the minds of music lovers everywhere. Boo yah!
