The religious convervatives in America have gotten way to pushy with their agendas, and its time for the Secularists to start pushing back.www.rationalresponders.com www.digitalfreethought.com www.atheistnetwork.com www.infidels.org"What I Believe"I believe that it is physically, mentally, and spiritually IMPOSSIBLE to ever prove the existence of a higher being or an afterlife, so people should just stop worrying about things we can't prove and start worrying about living a more peaceful and loving life here on Earth. I believe that the ONLY doctrine that should be followed by any religion is the golden rule that the three big monotheisms (Christianity, Islam, Judaism) throw by the wasteside - "Treat other people as you yourself want to be treated." That is the key to world peace, not the "Holy Bible", the Talmud, or the Koran. Which brings me to my next belief. I believe the so-called "Holy" Bible is nothing more than a marketing ploy to indoctrinate less-than-intelligent people into a system of beliefs and doctrines which are aimed at lining the pockets of clergymen. It was written by a group of illiterate, unevolved, superstitious people who were trying to explain things that at the time were unexplainable. I believe that the man who was known as Jesus Christ is DEAD, has been DEAD for 2,000 years, and if he were still alive today, he would be embarassed to be worshiped, ashamed of christianity and disgusted by christians. In any case, Jesus was one of or perhaps a mix of two or more of the following: 1) A Con-Man; 2) A Psychopath; 3) A misunderstood shaman-like teacher. I believe that prayer in school, bible studies, and forcing children to go to church is a form of child abuse and anyone forcing this outdated, medieval bull$hit onto a child should be put in jail. Telling ANYONE, let alone a child, that there is a place called "hell" where you will be sent for all of eternity to suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry if you do not do what the nice man in the white collar is telling you, is a form of psychological assault and should be outlawed and punishable by prison time. I believe in evolution and I think that intelligent design is the most ridiculous theory I have ever heard of. Earth was not created in seven days, its not only 6,000 years old, and dinosaurs and man did not walk the earth together. For those of you who do not believe in evolution because the church says its a false theory, please understand that at one time, people were excomminicated from the church for saying that the Earth revolved around the Sun and executed for stating that the Earth was round instead of flat. I believe that the only way one can find salvation is by looking within themselves, not in any one of the comically named "holy" books. The truth lies in everyone of us, but its up to the individual to seek it out for themselves. I believe in strength, courage, honor, tolerance, love, peace, and happiness. And I believe it is possible, in fact EASIER, to achieve all of the above without the help of the christian, jewish, or muslim god. Which leads me to my final belief, if a divine being does exist, I WILL NEVER believe that it is the christian/jewish/muslim god. That angry, judgmental, vindictive, vengeful being can stay far away from me. I have no use for him and what he stands for. And if any of my beliefs have offended you, then that is just too f'n bad, because I believe that NOBODY has the right to not be offended.I AM A PROUD MEMBER OF THE RATIONAL RESPONSE SQUAD, AND I DENY THE EXISTENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!
