Etienne D. Franc.Known as KostarOne to some was born and raised in Manhattan , NY. He has toured extensively with Aimee Allen(Elektra),OPM(Atlantic) and Soulstice(OM/Dreamworks) Has recorded with and/or for :The Isley Bros.,Jill Scott,John Legend,Debi Nova,Gina Rene,Gabriel Rene,Soulstice(OM/Dreamworks),OPM(Atlantic),BennyStrange(Dar kroom),Katie Stuckey,Andy Caldwell(OM) and Adam Roth(Pee-Cola). He started playing guitar at an early age and after moving to Santa Cruz CA,started rapping and singing in local North Bay bands.This led to exposure to Musicians that were educated and passionate about Jazz.these players in turn encouraged him to enroll in the local Junior College as a Jazz guitar major.After several semesters Etienne discovered and fell in love with the string bass eventually landing spots in the school orchestra and big band.While waiting tables Etienne made the aquaintance of a member of an act recently signed to Atlantic records called OPM who were looking for touring musicians.Etienne auditioned and landed a spot as OPM's bass player.After several US and European tours Etienne relocated to LA where he played and recorded with a wide variety of bands and solo acts as well as performing and recording as a founding member of LA's indie rock band BennyStrange where he met with future Check in the Dark lead guitarist George Laird."George and I used to talk about our love for Acoustic based bands and bands and artists that used improvisation as a tool to enhance great songwriting".After both leaving the band they were playing in Etienne was invited by George to join a new band called Check in the Dark."Basically it took a few listens for me and I was sold.It kind of crept up on me and than hit me like a sledgehammer.I had to be on this band.This is the most fun band I've ever played in".Etienne/KostarOne resides in San Fernando Valley CA with his wife and 5 children and iscurrently the Bassist and Music Director For Vocalist Phenomenon Gina Rene, holds the Bass Chair with his band Check in the Dark, plays bass with up and coming Singer Songwriter Adam Roth,and has just completed his Associates of the Arts degree in Music at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita.
