About Me

Sometimes introverted, sometimes artistic, regular Jane. I love watching movies (Netflix saved me from paying for all those movie channels), listening to music and reading. Occasionally, I go hiking, boating or just for a long walk. I "work out" with yoga videos... but not often enough as attested to by my still appreciable belly. I read all kinds of books. I love Phillipa Gregory's view of the royal courts from other eyes. And twisted fairy tales, like Wicked and Beauty. I love epic stories that are encompassed in a whole series of books (The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, The Vampire Chronicles, The Gunslinger, Eragon, Harry Potter...). I love to bake, but if you eat what I cook, don't expect it to look pretty- I get distracted when I am cooking. I'm pretty accepting of people- i don't like murderers or liars or theives or cheaters, and expect to be treated the same I treat others. I love deviants - tattooed and pierced people, gays and lesbians, musicians... but I end up being the "normal" one.

My Interests

Books, food, movies, music, photography, yoga, nature... I want to take ballroom dancing lessons, even though I have 2 left feet. I want to take classes in Spanish and Italian.

I'd like to meet:

Not really looking to meet anyone special. If you are friendly, and have something interesting to say, lets chat. Being the new girl in town, I am looking for new friends, a good coffeeshop, somewhere to watch people and read quietly if I want.

Music:

I like all kinds of music- blues, rock, adult alternative, rap... I love songs with lyrics that make you laugh or think. Sometimes the lyrics are better than the song, and sometimes I get lost in a melody or a beat. But I can't dance and I can't sing, and I haven't learned to play the guitar or drums yet.

I love movies. I have weird taste in movies I think, but I don't purchase movies or watch them more than once very often. I love all Tarrantino films, I like Robert Rodriguez movies too. I like interesting indie movies, but not the ones that make you sleep. I recently watched 21 grams which was quite good (and no, it itsn't about drugs). Another couple that stick out in my head are Hedwig and the Angry Inch, A Home at the End of the World, The Fifth Element, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

Television:

TV... Well I watch a lot of Music Videos and News. And Movies. Sometimes I watch History, Discovery, TLC or Food Network. Especially food network.

Books:

Favorite Books: Possessing the Secret of Joy by Alice Walker, Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller, The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Club Dumas by Arturo Perez Reverte, The Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan, Wicked by Gregory McGuire (I love twisted fairy tales), The Other Boelyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory, Glamorama by Brett Easton Ellis, Tale of a Body Theif and The Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice.

Favorite Authors: Tolkien, Rice, King, Bret Easton Ellis, Alice Walker.

Heroes:

I have many amazing people in my life. My mother did a good job of raising 3 girls mostly on her own. I understand her now more than I did when I was rebelling. My roommate, Michael, is one of the strongest (and most stubborn) people I know.
