Formally known as Tina y Los Gallitos. Promesa Mortal is a four piece band based out of Houston, Texas. They are mixing the old school with the new modern style. Giving their music a new and different flavor.
The oldest, Robert Vega aka 'El Jefe de la Acordeon' is an amazing accordion player. In 2006, he accompanied Alejandra Guzman at the Selena Vive Concert. Robert has been squeezing that box since he was 9 years old. He was recently one of the semi-finalists for 'The Big Squeeze' Contest at el Talento Bilingue with the Texas Folklife Organization.
Bajista y vocalista is Miss Tina Vega. 'La Reina del Bajo Sexto' is one of the few female bajo players in the Music Industry. She was awarded 'Best Young Bajo Player' at the 2005 STCA Awards. One of her goals is to inspire other young female musicians into this male dominated industry. "Tambien Las Mujeres Pueden!"
Drummer girl 'Miss Sunshine', recieved the award for 'Best Young Drummer Player' at the 2006 STCA Awards. Priscilla Tamayo is also promoting women in the industry. Recently graduating from High School..Class of '07! She would like to pursue her musical career along with her family, Promesa Mortal.
'El Patron' is the youngest member of the band. John Vega has been playing bass guitar since he was only 6 years old. He is one of the youngest and most professional musicians you will ever meet. He was a scholarship recipient at the Veterano Festival in 2005. One of his personal goals is to play along side with his idol JoJo Garza of Los Lonely Boys.
Together the band has been working on a demo cd. They also have over a dozen original songs that they will be putting on their upcoming album and performing at their live performances. Their goal is to sign with a major record label and promote nuestra musica de 'Bajo Sexto y Acordeon.'
