But first I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself.

I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and at the age of 18 I jumped on a Greyhound bus with a knapsack, a gym bag, some really BIG DREAMS and $300 to my name and headed out to Los Angeles.

As an athlete and gym rat my goal was to join the original Gold’s Gym in Santa Monica CA. (that's when Arnold was still working out there) And as odd as it may sound, to attend Cosmetology school and get my license to cut and style hair. (what a combination!)

At night I worked as a bartender at Bono’s (Sonny and Cher) Restaurant and during the day I chipped away at the 1600 hours required to take my cosmetologist test.

My first job out of school was at a salon in Malibu where I styled celebrities hair for 8 years until I signed a recording contract as a solo artist with indie label “Street Productions”. Growing up In a musical family I had music running through my veins and was blessed with a powerful singing voice.

One year later, several bad decisions made by the production company ended my recording contract and I was back to bartending in Beverly Hills. To say the very least, I was crushed.

It was right around that time that I was introduced to the Network Marketing Industry through one of my regular patrons at the bar. I remember my first meeting like it was yesterday. Once I understood the concept of Network Marketing and the power of a passive residual income, I couldn’t sleep! I was hooked! I approached my new business with excitement and vigor and like I was instructed to do, I talked to all of my friends, family members and business associates about my new business opportunity. That included everyone that sat in front of me at the bar which I eventually lost my job over.

Hey…It didn’t matter… I was on my way to becoming a millionaire!

Over the next 12 years I was mentored by some of the most successful teachers and trainers in the industry and worked diligently with a variety of MLM companies searching to find my niche in the industry. In that same time period I experienced some miserable failures and a few moderate successes. And I knew that the men and women that were making the big bucks weren’t any different than I was, and that it was only a matter of time until I would find the right combination and unlock the door to success in MLM.

By the end of that 12 year rollercoaster ride, I discovered I was a member of a new club called the “NFL club” (that means NO FRIENDS LEFT). But that didn’t deter me because over the years I had learned the “fine art of cold calling” (HA!) And I also got pretty good at the 3-foot rule.

(Just for the record: if you’ve never had the distinct pleasure of doing some cold calling for a business opportunity, I suggest you give it a try for just one week. It is a lesson in patience! You’ll learn things about people and about yourself that you never knew before)

Just when I was about to throw in the towel and look for another career, I found myself in the right place, at the right time with enough personal growth and development under my belt to capitalize on an opportunity that was presented to me. Immediately, my life changed as my income shot through the roof and my organization grew to over 33,000 members in less that 18 months! I was earning more money in one month than most people earn in a year. I was on fire! I had finally arrived!

Note: One way a business fails is not to have enough business…

the other way is to have too much business

and not be able keep up with the demand.

I’m sure you see where this is going…

For reasons I wont get into right now, my integrity forced me to walk away from that business after 2 ½ years as one of the top money earners in the company and I found myself starting over one more time.

Thank GOD for 8 years of boxing and martial arts as a kid I learned:

"When you get knocked down, make sure you land on your back… ‘Cause if you can look up, you can get up!"

I live by that principal every day and I know that no matter what profession you’ve chosen, you’ll have your good times and your hard times.

And like Les Brown Says:

“In the good times you put it in you bank account... and in your hard times you put it in your heart!”

Well. My heart was overflowing!

I took the next year off to do some soul searching and one evening while I was taking that break I decided to bake some chocolate chip cookies with my girlfriend Mona. (BTW, I met Mona at one of my networking meetings and we have been together now for 13 years!) This batch of cookies I baked that summer night in 1999 was so unbelievably delicious, that Mona suggested I use my marketing skills to take the cookies to the public. Well, within a month “Hollywood Cookie Company” was born. We’ve been successfully marketing our baked goods to Movie stars and cast and crew members on just about every set in Hollywood over the past 8 years, and have received rave reviews from celebrities like Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, Brooke Shields, Drew Carey etc… the list goes on and on…pretty cool what can come of a sweet tooth heh?

In what little time I had to spare, I picked up a digital camera one day and began taking pictures for our web site. I wasn’t about to pay some photographer $7,000 for 15 pictures and if you haven’t figured it out by now, I’ll try just about anything once. I had no idea I would take to photography as quickly as I did and almost immediately, as a side business I was generating an additional income photographing headshots of up and coming actors and actresses. Today with Mona as my business partner, I run both Keith Carey Photography and Hollywood Cookie Company businesses from our North Hollywood location.

Everything looks good on the outside but I am increasingly aware that I’m not getting any younger and I was also getting tired of trading time for money . GOD forbid something happens to me, my businesses would suffer major financial setbacks. In other words, if I didn’t show up for work, I wouldn’t make money .

Man, I missed that passive residual income from my networking days!

But because of my membership in the "NFL Club" and our major disappointments in the past, we turned down a lot of offers from some of our successful friends to work with some great companies over the years.

A little over a year ago I was in the best shape of my life when I incurred a gym injury and was told by my doctor that I couldn’t exercise unless I had an operation. Ok, didn’t I just tell you that if I didn’t show up for work, I wouldn’t get paid? So, at my physicians request I stopped working out. But I put off the operation because of my businesses. I couldn’t afford to miss that many days of work.

Being inactive for the first time in my life depressed me so much that I began eating uncontrollably. I couldn’t believe that in only one year of inactivity (and A lot of Junk Food) I blew up to 245 lbs and had gotten so out of shape that none of my clothes fit me anymore. I had to unbutton my pants just to feel comfortable. I would stand in front of my closet for 20 minutes trying to figure out what I had left that might fit me. Answer: Nothing! What happened to me?

All of a sudden I wasn’t feeling very good about my life or my current set of circumstances. I needed a change and I needed it now! That’s when my phone rang and it was the call that turned my life around in only 3 days And for the record, I strongly believe in
“The Law of Attraction”

On that call my friend Jay told me about a company and a product that cleansed the body at the cellular level and one of the side benefits was rapid and sustained weight loss. I thought OK… maybe this could help me to tackle two problems with one solution.

BTW I lost 5 lbs in 3 days, 15 lbs in 11 days and 35 lbs in 40 days all without exercise! The product had such a profound effect on my life that I couldn't help but get excited about the possibility of marketing it.

But there were TWO BIG PROBLEMS…

1) I didn’t have much time to invest in my new business and

2) I wasn’t willing to bug people who weren’t already interested in my product or business opportunity to begin with. And I definitely wasn’t going to waste my money buying some useless oversold lead list and start cold calling again. No thank you!

So I set out to find the New School of Networking because I knew times had changed over the past 10 years I was out of the game due to the internet and more specifically Myspace and Youtube . There is a whole new culture driving the new wave of MLM and it’s called:

Web 2.0
