Rev. Clay Evans

The Reverend Clay Evans, son of A. Henry and Estanully Evans, was born June 23, 1925 in Brownsville, TN. Ordained as a Baptist Minister in 1950, this Illustrious Founder and Pastor of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago, IL; pastored the "Ship" for fifty years. Pastor Evans has received many Honorary Doctors of Divinity Degrees. The Reverend Dr. Clay Evans has been responsible for launching the ministerial careers of ninety-three persons, including six female ministers. He has and is a leader in the Civil Rights Movement since 1965. He is the Founding National Board Chairman of Operation, (PUSH) and he held this position for five years.Reverend Evans has been a featured soloist on albums with the Voice Choir of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church and with the Voice Choir of the African American Religious Connection(AARC). Reverend Clay Evans won the 1996 Stellar Award for Best Gospel Album of the Year, which included the song "I've Got a Testimony".Reverend Evans retired on December 8, 2000 as the Pastor of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. He now holds the title of Founder and Senior Pastor of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, affectionately referred to as "The Ship". We Give God the Praise!!Reverend Dr. Clay Evans.
