EXCERPTS from the book "Where Did That Come From?" “Gods Word Does Not Contradict Itself”
“Being content”, does it mean staying right where you are in your life? Not getting a raise in your salary? Do we say, “I’m content, I’ve read enough of the Word so that I know what their talking about”. In the book of Luke 3:14 John the Baptist preached - “be content with your wages”. Do not covet, nor steal, nor swindle to get more. Phil. 4:11 “whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content”. If I am placed in an unusual situation, I need to pray and thank God that He will see me through as He promised. That He will guide my understandings in His Word, to overcome all situations. What ever it may be, He is there with me. And let it be the will of God and not something which I got myself into. Phil. 4:12,13 I am comfortable with queens & with beggars. I know the ways of the rich & poor. I have succeeded & not succeeded, yet I am victorious through Christ.
Heb. 13:5 “Be content with such things as ye have”. ‘Don’t Let the Jones Get You Down’. Strive for that which God has set aside for you. It’s yours for the asking. Mat. 2:7 “Ask & it shall be given you”. Psalm 37:4 “God will give you the desires of your heart”. James 1:17 “Every good & perfect gift is from above”. "Christian Woman!" Look!, Up in the Cloud. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Christian Woman!
Have you ever met someone who was so friendly at church & when you meet them in the streets or around another setting they are totally different? Being associated with the military, I have come in contact with some Christians who have a camillian attitude (they change with the setting), very loving to you around other saints and very distant when around those in the world.
We should be the same in our spirit man at all times and in every setting we should portray an image of Christ & show His love. So to as the Word of God is the same yesterday, today and forever; that should we also be. ""Homo vs. Hetero, No Question" Isn’t it a wonder that you don’t see 2 dogs of the same sex trying to “get it on” together, or any animal trying to have sex with their same sex? Then why is man, who is higher than the animals, sometimes confused when it comes to what gender he or she is? Man, who has intelligence that is superior to the lower species, has gender disorder problems. Man, the same creature whom God made a little lower than the angles (Pslm.8:4-5), has a problem. God didn’t put confusion of gender in this world. He knew what He created when He created them (Gen. 1:27). "Fixed Income" “I can’t because I’m living on a fixed income”. This is a phrase that should not have to be spoken by any Christian who believes in the power of Almighty God. First of all, we can do all things through Christ. The word “not’ is a word which is not in the Bible. Secondly, there are many Christian Financial Advisors available who will help you manage your money now so you will not have worries in the future. We are living in a time where we must depend on God and the resources He has given us.
Sure we have to use the word “not” sometimes, but I have curtailed my use of the words “can not”. There may be some things I won’t (will not) do or might not do but, I can do anything I set my mind to by the grace of God. "Stealing" A sore subject I am about to speak on, directed especially towards Christians. You know the little statement in the front of a video tape which you either buy or rent, that statement that we all buzz past. It lets you know that copying the material from the original source to another source is a felony. It’s stealing. I, in the past, have been guilty of this crime, especially when I’d hear a good gospel tape & didn’t have enough money to own my own original. Justification always played a big role. “It’s Christian music”, “It’s a blessing” Yeah, and it was stealing to dub off the original recording without permission.
The people that God blessed with the talent to produce their materials are loosing their blessings, and if you copied their materials then you’re the thief. We the public (some of us) are stealing the profit from them. It’s not right and cannot be justified.
If there’s a particular CD, video or tape I desire, I ask the Lord and then budget my funds to acquire it. If you let your request be made known, and put forth an effort, you will be blessed. "The World Didn’t Give It, and The World Can’t Take It Away"
I use to say, “If someone stole something from me then that person may have needed it more than I did”. Wrong! I don’t say that anymore.
When you have something that you take care of, remember it was God who gave it to you. If He wanted someone else to have the same thing, He has the power & resources to give things to them too. Envy & Stealing are sins. One leads to the other. "Motivation" Some people spend money buying motivational tapes & spending time and money to see a motivational speaker; but don’t people realize that the principle’s used in their motivation come from the Bible. You want motivation? Read your Bible. If Job wasn’t motivated by his belief in God, in spite of all the adversity around him, then there is no such thing as motivation. What about David, he had to be motivated to stand up against that tall man with just a slingshot and a stone. Now that’s motivation.
