I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I definitely march to the beat of my own drummer, or more like walk my own path...and I certainly embody a dichotomy of traits which can at times be what makes me shine, and in the same breath, can be my greatest shortcomings. When I love something (or someone for that matter), I love it forever...I am not one to grow tried or bored with the people and things I enjoy... in fact, I often find my self addicted to even to most minute of things, a smell, a look, a feeling...on the other hand, I can be as stubborn as the day is long... and hold on to things that most people would easily let go...I guess some people would call that passion...I believe that life is meant to be enjoyed...do what you love when you love it, how you want it as long as it does not interfere with someone else's happiness...I try to look to children (and the people who understand them) as my inspiration..to know how to laugh & cry like a child is completely liberating...yet the older I get the more being a grown up sounds wonderful as well...I will let you know when I become one...I love the quiet of night, and the renewal of morning...feeling a rythm in my bones and thru my earlobes...being somewhere for the first time...looking back on something for the last time...the sweet smell of babies...and puppies...and chocolate...not necessarily in that order...I love the first day after summer that you need a jacket..football season...beer that is NOT light...and vanilla vodka while we are on the topic...though I like to think my best drinking days are not all behind me... I know I would love to golf if someone would just offer to teach me & actually follow through with it...I will always have a love for what I can remember of "my lost year" & all the people that made that time in my life so wonderful...it was definitely worth taking the detour & it absolutely changed my life for the better...so thank you all!

My Interests

I love music, art, & architecture (not necessarily in that order & changes on a moment basis)...I want to learn how to do some really different things, like speak Turkish, & Sign Language, & blow sugar(in that order). I was taught from a very small age that there is a whole world out there, & I intend on seeing as much of it as I can...so why I am still here in NJ is a testiment to my love for the people in my life.

I'd like to meet:

True friends of any variety.

Music:

I could go on about music I love all day, but I will try to make this an absolute favorties list. Here goes: 311, The Afters, Amos Lee (Thank you Jaime), Amy Winehouse, Ani DiFranco (or else I cannot have "sisters") The Beatles, Ben Harper, Billy Joel, Brandi Carlile, Brett Dennen, Buju Banton (Thanks Jenn!), Cake, Corinne Bailey Rae, David Gray, Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra (or else I cannot be a part Jodie's family), The Dirtmitts, Elton John, The Fray, Frou Frou, Garbage (the soundtrack to my "lost year"), Gavin DeGraw, Get Set Go, Goldfrapp, Gomez, Hellogoodbye, Imogen Heap, Jack Johnson, James Blunt, James Taylor, Jason Mraz, Jem, Jesus Jackson, Jet, John Mayer, Joshua Radin, Keane, Kelis, The Killers, KT Tunstall, Le Tigre, Lily Allen, Lily Frost, Lisa Loeb, Mason Jennings, Mat Kearney, Matt Nathanson, The Organ, Panic! At The Disco, Pasty Cline, Peaches, Placebo, Portishead, The Pussycat Dolls (let's just say the lyrics aren't so stimulating), Regina Spektor, Rooney, Rufus Wainwright, The Shins, Simon & Garfunkel, Sneaker Pimps, Snow Patrol, Sublime, Teddy Geiger, Tegan and Sara, The Thrills, Tom Petty, Tom Vek, Tori Amos, Velocity Girl, The Veronicas, The White Stripes, Zero7. So much for the abridged version!

Movies:

Anything with Vince Vaughn in it! Swingers is so money baby, Wedding Crashers, The Break-up, Dodgeball. Love Will Ferrell & Ben Stiller in anything they do...Zoolander is brilliant! Office Space, Empire Records, Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion (totally what I think mine will be like...can't wait for the dance scene!), Clueless, My Cousin Vinny, Monty Python's The Meaning of Life...all classics! On the more serious end of things...I love Sofia Coppola's works (Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides, etc.), Her father isn't half bad either! I seem to watch more Godfather marathons then I care to admit. And where would I be without Michael Moore's shockumentaries. Lost I tell you...LOST!

Television:

Grey's Anatomy, Weeds, Entourage, Sex and the City, Big Love, ANTM. I am totally addicted to Big Brother, and have been since day one. I am even corny enough to stay up untill 3AM watching the live show on Showtime almost everynight. I also catch some of the Bravo shows: Top Chef, Project Runway, etc...but not that trite design show that had nothing to do with design. I am still a sucker for an episode Roseanne on Nick at night at 4 AM when I cannot sleep.

Books:

I am a sucker for a hardback coffee table book filled with glossy photos of architecture or art of any variety. Other then that...I have been into autobiographies lately. I have this obsession about learning from other peoples' successes & failures right now.

Heroes:

No one in particular.I want to be my own hero someday.

How full is your glass?

Occasionally I find myself wondering if people are inherently good, or if we simply like to believe so for our own sanitizes.  Everyday we are bombarded by the media which would lead us to believ...
