About Me

Emcee Skuizoo became interested in hip-hop culture in 1997. First he was interested in drawing graffiti style pictures on his copybooks and listening to groups such as Tiro de Gracia, the chilean funk band Los Tetas, Jovanotti, Coolio, etc. Squizoo was a shy kid, and hip-hop was a way of tryin' to find out his identity. When he was 14 he used to tag on the walls of his town, Ñuñoa. About at the age of 16 or 17 he started to write hip-hop lyrics. In the following years he started reading about cultural anthropology and the way of life of cultures which had or have not been touched by Globalization or now hardly can be inserted in it unless it kills their religion, beliefs and connection with the sacred nature. Squizoo also got interested in christianity for the influence of a friend of him, but then he rejected it seeing the invasion George Bush made in the Middle East and its basement in the Bible, and that christians had arrived to Africa and the continent of America killing the people who lived there, proclaiming to have discovered our continent and imposing their culture. Squizoo also wanted to find some kind of music different from hip-hop, 'cause this had became gangsta rap, always thinking only of who is selling more records and legitimizing gang violence. That's how Squizoo got interested in reggae and rastafarism. A few years ago Skuizoo loved to read the book “The Influence that treats”, written by Tobie Nathan, about the psychotherapy Nathan practices with immigrant people in France, who come from countries in Africa and other places and whose religious beliefs need to be considered for the therapy, because they believe that their illness is caused by spirits which need to be manipulated in the treatment. After all that and also after listening to songs like Afu-Ra and Ky-mani Marley’s “Equality" and this last’s “Ska-ba-dar”, Skuizoo decided to start creating positive raggamuffin.

El hip-hop para cambiar la mierda que se vive en las calles, no para alabarla.
