FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Rock Sisters Street Team?
The Rock Sisters Street Team is a group organized to help promote the live music events put on by Rock Sisters Productions.
What is Rock Sisters Productions?
Rock Sisters Productions is an entertainment production company based on California's Central Coast. It was named after the music-lovin' Central Coast women who started the production company. We are not groupies! We are Rock Sisters! :)
Can guys join the Rock Sisters Street Team?
Most definitely! We love our Rock Brothers!
What does the Street Team do?
The Street Team's job is to get the word out about Rock Sisters shows by any and all legal means possible. You are only limited by your imagination ... and the laws of the United States, the laws of the State of California, the laws of the particular city or county you are in, the laws of common decency, the laws of nature and the Golden Rule. Remember, if you break the law or piss people off when promoting a show, it doesn't help -- it just makes us all look bad.
How does the Street Team promote shows?
There are lots of ways you can help promote a show, including posting show flyers with the permission of the property or business owner, helping bands get local airplay by requesting your favorite songs, buying tickets to shows for friends, or better yet, getting your friends to buy tickets. If you're the kind of person who likes to throw money at a problem, just buy a bunch of show tickets and pass them out to strangers on the street, or buy so many of the band's latest CD that it makes the headlines and lands the band on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
I'm really lazy and I don't want to leave my house. How can I help?
Good news! You can help promote a show without ever leaving the comfort of your home! You can add the band's music to your MySpace page, post show flyers on your website or MySpace page and send MySpace bulletins to friends. You can direct friends to the band's website or MySpace page. If you're feeling extra ambitious, you can invite your friends over to your house (be sure to tell them it's pot luck and BYOB), then put on the band's latest CD and rave about how great it is! You won't even have to exaggerate, because Rock Sisters Productions only books GREAT bands!
Do I have to live in San Luis Obispo County to join the Street Team?
Nope! That's the beauty part! It helps to live in the area if you want to help out with posting flyers and such, unless you'd like to fly in for a day. (Not a bad idea!) But thanks to the advent of e-mail, the internet and long-distance telephone service, you can show your support for your favorite band's visit to the Central Coast from anywhere in the world!
Is there such a thing as over-promoting?
Yes. Try to walk the fine line between being enthusiastic and being obnoxious. We want to draw people to the show, not drive them to drink. Example: Sending out a MySpace bulletin about an upcoming show = good. Sending out the same MySpace bulletin every hour on the hour = bad.
What's in it for me?
You mean, besides the satisfaction of helping to generate a great turnout for a favorite band's show? ;) Well, it depends on the show and on your level of involvement in helping to promote the show. Possible rewards for street team members include show tickets, CDs, autographed posters, t-shirts and other assorted schwag. Who knows? You may even earn a personal phone call from one of the band members! If Street Team rewards are offered for a particular show, we'll post the info on this page.
I don't want to join the Street Team, but I want to help promote a particular show. What can I do?
Well, I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want to join the Street Team. But in any case, you don't have to be a member of the Street Team to help promote one of your favorite band's shows. You can do many of the things the Street Team does on your own, including requesting songs on the radio, networking about the show online and playing the band's music for friends. Heck, if you want to get really crazy, you can even head over to ValliTix.com and order show tickets!

Request Your Favorite Songs

We love the bands we book! If you've fallen in love with one or more of these bands, as we have, you can contact your local radio station to request your favorite song. Please make sure you request the song on a station which is friendly to the particular genre of music and please don't flood the phone lines with repeated requests. This is not only obnoxious (see our FAQ in the right-hand column), it will probably also backfire. Not good. If you're a fan of the music and feel moved to do so, just request a song as you normally would any other song you'd like to hear on the radio.
