About Me

Hey everyone, I'm being dragged kicking & screaming into cyberspace, so don't hate just cuz I don't have the computer networking skillz. I do, though, have skillz in selecting dope jungle/techno/hip hop records, playing guitar, writing all manner of silly rants & music reviews, putting together zines & taking silly ass photos of my friends. I also practice hatha yoga & am in a kick ass rock band, The Iron Monkeys. I live in Pomona, oh don't you shake your head at me fool! I wouldn't have it any other way. I also love to read crazy horror stories, watch The Simpsons, be silly with my crew (Heaven Crew to be exact), dancing in dirty warehouses, and I love love love my awesome job as buyer for Rhino Records in Claremont, CA.

My Interests

I think I about covered it in the "about me" section: jungle music, techno, underground hiphop, talking shmack with my homies, playing guitar with my band, creating fanzines & writing, having crazy adventures, outdoor parties, dirty warehouse parties, dancing, drinking herbal tea at Nicks Cafe, reading horror books & crazy graphic novels, hatha yoga, and nerding out on The Simpsons!

I'd like to meet:

Dope ass people who love underground music & art!

Music:

Hard ragga jungle, percussive acid techno, warped indie rock, stripped down garage rock, indie hip hop, plus all manners of dope jazz, world music & psychedelia. Oh yeah & can't forget The Beatles!!

Movies:

Not a huge movie person but I have a few cult faves: Tetsuo The Iron Man, Jacob's Ladder, Reflecting Skin, Concentric Beats (dope underground documentary on the LA jungle scene), Style Wars, all come to mind immediatly.

Television:

Why watch TV when you could be listening to the latest N2O 12" or RAW mixtape? But The Simpsons are a must, plus I watch alot of Andy Griffith & Columbo with my Granny. Alfred Hitchcock is on KDOC every weeknight at 8pm!

Books:

Here's where it gets sticky, I'll just name a few favorite authors that come to mind: Niel Gaiman, Kafka, HP Lovecraft, Stienbeck, Hemmingway, Emily Dickinson, William Burroughs, Ginsberg, Kerouac, Alan Moore, Robert Price, Taylor Kingsbury & all others representing real human emotion, crazy grand adventure, and the ill horror beyond the stars.

Heroes:

A few music icons: The Beatles, RAW, Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Jack Dangers, Moontribe collective, DJ Spooky, Freestyle Fellowship. Also I'm really influenced by & love my family and friends!
