I recently got a reality check, a moment of clarity if you will. I've been on death's door. I've rang his doorbell and took off running. (He hates that, you know...) And I gotta tell you...it can change a person.I'm in training right now. Training to be a better person, to not let as much stuff bother me, and to do what's right. Our time is limited here, folks. Spend it wisely. Have a lot of fun, get a little work done. If you don't, your life isn't gonna be worth it.I've been called a "Local Superhero". And that got me thinking. That's pretty damn nifty. But it's true. I've been working ..helping others in need for most of my life. I've been an EMT for 9 years, serving all over the tri-state area. I'm the County Deputy Coordinator of Emergency Medical Services, Operations Office for a County Emergency Operations Center, Dispatcher, Rescue Tech, and to top it all off, in the part time, I'm a Medical Investigator for the State Office of the Medical Examiner. It's CSI in South Jersey. I keep pretty busy. I work hard, but I play harder. I still keep time aside for myself and my family.Adaptation is one of the great advantages to being born and bred in Jersey. We're simply not bested by baid air or tainted water. We're like that catfish with lungs. Take us out of our environment and we can grow whatever body parts we need to survive. After Jersey the rest of the country's a piece of cake. You want to send someone into a fallout zone? Get him from Jersey. He'll be fine.
