Their only wish is to be heard and their only dream is to be successful not only in music but in life. The controversial group was established in 2006 even though both artists have been rapping before they met each other. Marcos AKA Cyclone and Timothy AKA Etamo-T were both born in San Antonio Texas AKA “Da Undaground City;” A desert for any kind of hip hop or rap artist trying to make it in the business. However, Marcos’ entire family is from Mississippi. His father was in the army and fought in Desert Storm which was the reason why they lived in San Antonio. But after have gotten word that his Uncle had passed away in Mississippi they moved back to stay closer to family and his father went to a University there as well. After three years of living in the dirty south they moved back to San Antonio. Cyclone began to pick up a love for basketball and started to pursue a career in it. It became his childhood dream to go pro when he got older. His father used to make beats on a keyboard and he soon picked up on it at age 13. Music was always off and on though. He was never as serious about it as he was with basketball. Cyclone’s mom soon got non smokers lung cancer along with diabetes around the same time. What could have been a normal childhood turned out to be a reality check because with his mom sick and siblings to look after there was no time to get into trouble. But in the midst of that he kept his eye on the prize. The one thing his heart held on to. He loved his family and always kept them close to heart but he always wanted to be or do something great like Michael Jordan or even Allen Iverson. Though in school, he was always a loner because his parents were always moving house to house so it was hard getting to know anyone without leaving. But that didn’t affect his ambition even the slightest bit. When high school came he kept making beats and kept playing ball. Sophomore year he became the starting point guard for Junior Varsity while keeping an A-B honor roll status. Varsity would have brought him much closer toward his goal but becoming too emotional with the game made him realize there was more to life than just basketball. Yes, breaking ankles and embarrassing people on the court was the sweetest thing for him to release any emotional distress but because of his height and the position he was in he knew being that great player he always wanted to be wasn’t going to happen. Even after years and years of intense practice with anal coaches, excruciating weight lifting, and countless games against players older and stronger, he let it all go. Because he realized he had put his other talents on the back burner for too long. This kid unbelievably won 2nd place in a multimedia fair against thousands of other students his sophomore while playing basketball! So his junior year he let his first love go in pursuit of a new love; something that could express how he felt at the same time be successful in. That’s when he focused more on his music and how to master its art; everything from catchy punch lines to mixing down the beats. His favorite producers were of course Dr. Dre, XXL, and Mannie Fresh because unlike the many producers today they knew how to make a song sound more than just great. They were songs people could listen to forever. As far as lyricism went, it didn’t matter. He is a sole believer in rhyme for reason but as long as the flow was on point with the beat any song sounded good. He found himself being the beat-maker in the midst of freestyle battles around the school. This kid only improved more and more as he continued to make beats on a regular five track keyboard and write rhymes in his composition book. And that’s when he met up with Etamo-T who went to the same school. Etamo-T is an African American born and raised in San Antonio Texas. Tim grew up in a musically influenced family. His father is a musician who played in various bands. His mom would always listen to MOTOWN like Jackson 5, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, and others. Tim can almost name any old school song and artist played in front of him. Timothy’s father recorded and produced his own music as a gospel singer but worked in the Air Force to support the family along with his mother who is an Elementary school teacher. And his father continued to play and it wasn’t too long until he bought studio equipment. At the age of ten Timothy saw a video by Will Smith called “Just Cruisin’” and from that day on he made up his mind to become a rapper and recorded a song with his sister and father called “Just Cleaning”. His first album was called “Ace on 16th Street” and at that time he went under the name Ace. Tim was eleven years old at the time. But at the age of twelve his father gave him his multi eight track recorder, drum machine, keyboard, and studio microphone to begin recording with. Tim was highly influenced by artists such as LL Cool J and Will Smith as well as N.W.A, Dr. Dre, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Eazy-E, especially Bone Thugs-in-Harmony. At the age of thirteen he came up with his name Etamo-T thinking that was the way titanium was spelled. He felt like he found his style and further pursued his rapping career by establishing a label called “Norfh Side Records”. Norfh Side Records had a handful of talented artists. He produced and recorded all the beats on his analog equipment. Etamo-T had a total of ten albums done along with several other albums from other artists. He was well known around high school for his freestyle battles as well as passing his albums out. Around his senior year of high school he finally met up with Cyclone who had similar interests and similar goals in life. Furthermore, both Cyclone and Etamo-T found each other creating music together in 2006. That summer they recorded their first song together called “Thick and Thin” which was digitally re-mastered later that year. Cyclone produced both his first album titled “Spit the Truth” which was an album about life and its experiences and Etamo-T’s album titled “Spit it Raw”. Both album’s were underground while Cyclone’s album was unreleased feeling that he could have done a better job. Cyclone was raised to be a perfectionist and he is one at heart. But the two artists came a long way with performances, new songs, and new ideas coming out. Cyclone’s flow only gets better and more versatile while his beats get wittier and more creative while Etamo-T continues to spit flawless lyrics to inspire people in a positive way. As far as how they got the name 2313, there came a point in time when Etamo-T kept noticing the number twenty three a lot more often as well as Cyclone noticing the number thirteen. Even a movie called “The Number 23” came out in theatres. Both artists have witnessed it first hand and felt like it was a message from God. Thus they created the group called 2313. The two numbers mean bad luck in some countries while in others it means good luck. The two hope to find an answer of what it means someday but until then 2313 will remain the true definition of independence, originality, ambition, and motivation that will one day inspire the world through their music.
