About Me
The House of BuzzRock is a place that generates mutual respect, love, and creativity. Buzz Rock has five core members; however, there are additional key players and fans, who allow us to MAKE IT HAPPEN! Give Thanks!SADIKI functions as Musical Director and lead vocalists for the band. He was born into music, his father is a well known bass guitarists; and, his grandfather an astute musician/guitarist, with extensive knowledge and background in music taught Sadiki some unique styles of playing before he passed away in 2002. Sadiki was exposed to complex music such as Sun Ra, John Coltrane, Roy Ayers, Miles Davis, etc., at a young age. At age two or three, he started singing/skating along with Al Jarreau; it was not surprising that he knew Al's song 'Spain' at age three. His foundation and original vintage style is well accepted by the reggae community. See his page at www.myspace.com/buzzrockvintage.Born Rodney-Marc Rique, YAHROD, one of BuzzRock’s three lead vocalists was first introduced to music in church as a very young boy, where he sang with the choir and performed solo pieces. Prodded by an uncle, Yahrod started dabbling with the guitar at the age of 10 which furthered his appetite for music. He was introduced to Ras Tafari in the year 1998, one year before becoming a member of Jah Band, in which he sang and played the drums. When Jah Band dissolved, Yahrod began composing solo pieces and doing small solo performances. Soon he reconnected with his past band mates from Jah Band and BUZZROCK was formed. Yahrod is ready to bring his knowledge of Ras Tafari to the world stage. The most senior member of BuzzRock, IKUMIAH has led a very interesting life. Born Roger Henry to a middle class family in North Trinidad, Ikumiah acknowledged Ras Tafari at the age of 15, much to the disapproval of his parents. Soon after, he left home and began a quest for spiritual enlightenment. At the age of 31, he was condemned to a wheel chair after being mysteriously thrust into a coma for three days. Two years later, he met his current BuzzRock band mates to form Jah Band. This was not Iku’s first experience with music. His father was a renowned Trinidadian Jazz musician, so he grew up around a lot of classical music and jazz and played his father’s piano as a boy. At age 16, he began playing percussion; and, at later on began learning the bass and keyboards with a band called Jah System. No longer bound by his wheelchair Ikumiah currently plays the bass and functions as musical composer for the band, BUZZROCK.HAILE ZION was born in Trinidad and raised in a musical environment. As soon as he was tall enough to reach the turntables, he began dejaying with his father's sound system, NEGUS HIFI; thus developing his knowledge of reggae music as well as other genres. At the age of 14, he was already resident drummer in his father's band BLACK BEAT INTERNATIONAL. Haile is primarily a drummer, but plays all percussion instruments and some keyboard. He learned to read drum tablature from Errol Wise, a Trinidadian born Jazz drummer of high renown. Haile was also a member of Trinidad's rock/reggae band Orange Sky. So far, he has backed Culture Dan, Determine, Courtney Melody, Admiral Tibet, Issachar, Million Voice, and many more....IMEN SETTI first started singing with St. Margaret's Boys School Choir, and then later with Belmont Junior Secondary school choir. At age 11, he began dabbling with the drums; and, not long after with a guitar which his aunt gave to him as a gift. Setti sang with Black Beat International in the early 90's. Then, through a twist of fate, he met Eric, a friend of BuzzRock, who introduced him to Sadiki, the band's musical director; and, Jusfari, a local underground reggae artist and craftsman. Setti believes that music should be used to disseminate truth and rights and therefore he employs his vocal ability to do just that.MySpace Backgrounds
