About Me

MUSIC and associated activitives have always been a vital part of my life. In my younger days I was a real "rock mamma" singing and playing the electric guitar. Later ballroom dancing took over and I was an active competitor on the floors for many years. Did have the honor of representing my country at a number of international events. These days time allows for a bit of choir participation only though. A rythmical repertoire is what I particularly enjoy. Recently joined the Gospel Choir "Faith" . Listen to samples at my below personal MusicPlayer (sorry, it's a very amateurish recording from a live concert, so the sound is absolutely not up to standard but will give you an idea)
FILM The last ten years I've gained an interest in films and do now and then take work on as an extra on TV and movie sets. And I thoroughly enjoy writing reviews and discussing movies on various boards.
TRAVELLING and exploring new places is a great passion of mine. I was born and brought up with this interest. And I need it to be in my life as much as possible. Hence I made travelling my living, which has given me the great pleasure and opportunity to visit a large number of fantastic places around the world learning of exciting new cultures and meeting wonderful people! Worked some 35 years as a a travel consultant & producer. Just started up working for a very interesting little niche bureau Adventure Heart specializing in adventure- & voluntary working programs for young people to all places of the world, but with southern Africa as my particular "baby". I love to explore the scenic natural wonders on our Earth - while lazying on a tropical beach in the shade of a palmtree is my favorit answer to a great holiday.

My Interests

Music, singing, ballroom dancing, film & travelling.

NEWS!!! New CD:

The Beat Dolls revived... After 43 years "Cadillac" has just been re-released with this popular duo. In a new blog just posted above, read about a hilarious day in the music studio - and how a transistor radio functions as an amplifyer. The story behind this CD will have you in awe and hysterics, I guarantee!!! This fabulous single track will - for a very brief time - be available on this site. You are welcome to click and get the laugh of your lifetime - entirely free on my behalf! A big thanks to Scandinavian MixRoom for making this release possible.

I'd like to meet:

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio again - and over and over :-). And British musician & songwriter Joshua Jones, who's first album "Seize the day" was launched Oct 2007:

LISTEN to this great INTERVIEW with Joshua Jones talking to Darren Gamblen at Radio ExpressFM, Portmouth medio September 2007:

JOSHUA JONES at The ITV1 Morning Show August 28. Playing "Kilimanjaro" - written when climbing this mountain as a tribute and inspiration to those suffering from CF.To listen just click the screen.

HELP ME HELP JOSHUA & THE CF
Joshua Jones is not only a great singer/songwriter but likewise as beautiful inside as outside. Always positive and with an incredible spirit that is of great inspiration to others. Joshua suffers from CF - in spite of same, he is to be found in the frontline challenging himself in all ways trying to conduct a life as close to "normal" as possible. And not the least he is spending a lot of his time and efforts in raising funds and awareness about this fatal disease that shortens the life of children and young people. I would really love and appreciate if any of you, my private friends, would help me help Joshua to reach his goal of raising sufficient funds to make CF stand for "Cure Found". A purchase of his album gives 10% to the CF Trust

LATEST ON LEONARDO DiCAPRIO:
LISTEN to this brand new interview with Leonardo about his upcoming movie "BODY OF LIES" . Opening in the USA October 10, and shortly afterwards in the UK in November. Although the plot may seem to be a typical thriller with a "cat & mouse" chase theme, there is a lot more into this movie. It's very close to our current political situation and hence adresses some very hot issues... it's indeed a lot more than just a movie - and a typical Leo choice, as his ambitions are far from going mainstream.

but even better: On December 26th opens yet another grand Leo-movie - namely the much awaited "REVOLUTIONARY ROAD" where after 10 years Leonardo does once again play opposite Kate Winslet. The book is stunning - and this deep story will no doubt transfer fantastically into a movie that won't let people leave the cinema without having them reflecting about life and what we do with it. And the role as Frank Wheeler is like written for Leonardo - if anyone can portray this caracter, then it's him! To fullfill the many thoughts of his character, Leonardo will here have a great opportunity to use his unique gift of being able to say everything without a word... I'm looking immensely forward to this movie. It has been more than 2 years under its way and is already considered an Oscar contender... Although in the principle a narrow movie adressing the few - it's no doubt going to be a blockbuster due to having Leo and Kate onscreen together again. Let's cross out fingers, that Leonardo this time will receive the just acknowledgement by The Academy!

Music:

RB, soul, gospel, musical, ballads, RR, pop, big band dance music - and "good old" music from the 60th.
My present faves are British Joshua Jones , whose first album (Seize the day) was just released October '07; Oslo Gospel Choir (Live in Paris) Celine Dion (A new Day), Norwegian songbird Sissel Kyrkjebö and Andrew Lloyd Webber (original Musical Collections).

BUT BUT BUT it goes without saying that my absolute fave musician is Jan Langer
LISTEN to one of his tunes on below MusicPlayer - a very speciel version of "More than words" with Jan on the Acustic guitar and vocals by Ann-Rena.

- and further his band Absolute Favourites - a great Danish Cover Band with Jan Langer on lead guitar and Michael Holmberg on bass. LISTEN to the below demos with this great band. Absolute Favourites can be booked for gigs or private events and performs a very wide repertoire of popular pop, rock and blues tunes.

Joshua Jones is my new fave intl. singer/songwriter, whose Album "Seize the day" I'm growing fonder of each day. It's a breathtaking Album, I wish everyone would take a moment to listen to. Love ballads with beautiful lyrics and a piano sensitively backing this awsome, velvety voice... LISTEN to his own song "Kilimanjaro" in the video-box, AQUAINT yourself with Joshua by listening to the interview under the picture in the column to the right and by reading my blog. Joshua is a truly amazing guy!

LISTEN TO MY FAVE MUSIC:

"FAITH" Gospel Choir is a super energetic Danish amateur choir with a home in greater Copenhagen, Denmark. The choir consists of some 60 singers of all ages, who have a common passion for the intense rythmical music the gospel tunes represent. The choir performs a wide repertoire embracing tunes from the traditional "Chicago" genre over quiet ballads to more funky and modern styles. The choir is directed by locally famous director Erik Olsen, who is recognized not only for his ambitious and deep musical skills but not the least for a unique dynamic and very entertaining direction that captures the audiences in minutes. The choir is accompanied by pro musician Kristof Jasik, who brings the performances to higher levels with an amazing piano playing. At major concerts further musicians join in on bass and percussions. The choir loves to perform and hence are often to be experienced in and outside Copenhagen at Church Gospel Concerts or gigs at Libraries, Shopping Malls etc. I'm very happy and proud to tell, that I became a member of this choir half a year ago and have truly enjoyed each moment of rehearsals and concerts. CHECK my Calendar for performance schedules. LISTEN to selected tunes with the choir by clicking the above MusicPlayer. OBS: Please note these recordings are private homemade amateur ones from last year's Christmas Concert and hence the sound quality is way below standard and the solo-microphones, unfortunately, rather distorted. Enjoy anyway!

Movies:

Titanic, Out of Africa, A Chorus Line, Basket Ball Diaries, Chocolat, Strictly Ballroom, Sound of Music, Grease, Aviator and Blood Diamond.
My fave for the time being Blood Diamond for many reasons: It stars my favorit actor, the social message brought about is highly relevant and was an eye opener to me in more ways and finally, it's primarily filmed in South Africa which is a country that means a lot to me in many ways. Fantastic sceneries...

My fave directors are: Lasse Hallström, Martin Scorsese & Baz Luhrman.

Books:

"Revolutionary Road" by Richard Yates and "Shutter Island" by Dennis Lehane. Both books being stories that are presently/to be filmed with my fave actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Especially Revolutionary Road is a really wonderful read. The language exceptionally beautiful and the content so profound and still up to date.

Heroes:

My loving hubby - for having put up with me and my crazy ideas for incredibly many years.
My dear son - for allowing me still to be in his life and share his quests and big moments.
Leonardo DiCaprio for having given me so many wonderful hours in the theatre and inspiring me to acquaint myself with the characters portrayed and to study the subject matters. And for actively putting his star power to use for good causes.
