Hi, I'm Nicki and I'm a mad mum who skates! I'm a very young-at-heart competitive adult figure skater and also a full-time mum of two children. When they are at school I head off to the ice rink to train. Before becoming a mum, I studied agriculture then ended up working in accounts. I love my life now though - I don't need to go out to work so can enjoy being able to skate on empty daytime ice and be here for the kids as well.
Last year I set up the Joshua Jones Fan Site (UK) which kept me very busy for a few months. It was a pleasure and I felt very privileged to have been able to do this for Josh, but sadly things didn't work out as we all hoped and Josh made the sad decision to quit the music industry. The fan site remains open and will be there for Josh should he decide to return to his music.
As for my personality, I'm fairly shy until you get to know me, then I don't stop talking! I have a very sensitive nature and take things to heart way too much, and I'm a typical Virgo in that I am a perfectionist and can be a little too critical at times! I love having fun though and love to live life to the full. Anything more you want to know, just ask!

My Interests

Ice skating. I didn't start skating till I was in my twenties, but it was something I had always dreamed of doing as a child. When the rink was built locally I signed up for learn to skate classes and before I knew it I was hooked. I currently have two half-hour private lessons each week and train 5 times a week. Test standard reached so far is NISA Level 3 Elements and Free, and NISA Inter-Bronze (equivalent to Level 4) Field Moves. I love the challenges of learning a new jump, spin, step sequence and especially of learning a new programme. I love the sense of achievement when I pass a test or skate a clean programme in competition. I love meeting up with all my skating friends and taking part in our Christmas show and our annual gala. Weird really because I hate being the centre of attention and I actually find competing somewhat nerve-wracking. I am a member of the largest figure skating club in the UK and am also membership secretary for it. To visit our club website click on the logo below.

Other than skating I enjoy sewing, cooking, photography, card making, listening to music and surfing the internet.I'm also a bit of a rollercoaster addict. My favourite of all time is Kraken at Sea World in Orlando, but I love Nemesis, Rock'n'Rollercoaster, Space Mountain Mission 2 and the big ones in Busch Gardens.

The way my lutzes are creeping closer to the barrier, it is becoming a real worry that this will be me very soon!Club Competition - June 2007

An oldie but a goodie - Ice Castles!

The ultimate adrenaline rush - Stealth at Thorpe Park which goes 0-80 in 2 seconds and has a height of 205 feet.

I'd like to meet:

Well, I have finally met the one person I wanted to meet - Joshua Jones - three times! What an amazing guy he is and it was great to finally give him those long overdue hugs and kisses!
I hope to meet Darren Hayes again. OK, so I've already met him, but one can wish to meet someone more than once can't they?!!
Seriously though I'd like to meet anyone with similar interests, lifestyle etc. In fact anybody at all who is friendly!

Music:

Joshua Jones is my absolute favourite singer/songwriter and I am thrilled to have been sent a personally signed copy of his debut album 'Seize the Day' ahead of its release last October. The album is absolutely fantastic - my all time favourite! I am proud to be one of his bestest fans and as I said before, it has been an honour to run his UK Fan Site for him! Also I have been a huge fan of Darren Hayes for a long time now and still think he's fantastic. I am loving his album "This Delicate Thing we've Made" as much as his previous solo albums. I saw him live at his "Side Two" tour in February 2008. I was lucky to be there for his opening night and even luckier to be there for the final show which was totally out of this world. I have discovered Simon Dorey here on Myspace and I'm really enjoying his new album "A Book of Modern Love Songs". Other singers that I have discovered on Myspace are Nathan Walters and Daniel Tse - both have an album out soon which I am looking forward to. I also enjoy music by The Feeling, Robbie Williams, Madonna, Mika, Take That, Delta Goodrem, Anastacia, The Scissor Sisters, Keane and Daniel Powter to name but a few. I would also add that I'm a bit of an 80's girl and love the old stuff by Wham, Howard Jones, Tears for Fears, Level 42 etc.

Movies:

Top Gun, Rain Man, The Cutting Edge, Titanic, Mamma Mia to name just a few. I'm a bit of a romantic so I enjoy a good old love story - especially one with a happy ending! I'm also a big fan of Stitch from the Disney movie "Lilo and Stitch"! I'm such a big kid at heart!

Television:

I don't watch much television these days as I get more pleasure running the fan site and catching up with my friends on here. However I am hooked on Dancing on Ice at the moment! However I do enjoy medical documentaries and surfing the music channels in the hope of catching Darren Hayes!

Books:

Anything skating related!

Heroes:

Joshua Jones of course!!!!

Monday

Back on the ice after having the weekend off.  My legs were aching a bit from some strength training I did yesterday, so I warmed up well off the ice and had a good stretch.  I did my pre-c...
