Gelagat was formed spontaneously in late 2003, when the pianist/strings/organist 'r had to be a participant to perform his roll compotisions (4 pieces at the time) in IMI (Institute Musisi Indonesia) Composers festival and he needed about 3 or 5 additional musicians to supported his composition. Well at the time, he found 4 musicians to filling each instruments of his songs and they were Andrew (screamer/now in Votel Roffs), Fahmi (bassist/ now in Votel Roffs), Anton (drummer/now in Kerispatih and for a long time before,he is in In Memoriam till now), and Lita (the violinist). Feeling not comfort with the band's name, when they had to had a gig in running time : 10-12 minutes, which was the name is 'r and friends like MC said, and 'r changed the band's name spontaneously into GELAGAT. "I think GELAGAT is very represented name with music that i make right now" said 'r at that time. For more information, GELAGAT means behave or feeling, that pointing someone's changing condition which followed by his/her character and temperament (maybe....!!!).The good appreciation and crowd enthusiasm pushed GELAGAT to plan in making album. In late 2004, GELAGAT's 1st album which is entitled "Gelegar" was released by Apa Lo! Records with the new formation and added some new musicians as members. The members of this band on this album are: Andrew(scream and melodic vocal),Among(melodic vocal and scream),Cakra(keyboard effect,fill in,media,effect),Efra(bass),Febro(keyboard fill in),Felix(drums),Vano(guitars) and 'r(piano,keyboard's strings,pipe organ).A lot of people and musicians almost had some opinion about GELAGAT's music; Avant Garde, Experimental, Noise Metal, Jazz, Ska, Pop, Atonal, Ethnic, and everything you can name here. ".......for those who are into the wicked metal" METAL MANIACS magazine.After the 1st Album sold out about 300 copies and GELAGAT starts to continue their work to compose more songs for the 2nd Album. Their hardworking produces about 14-16 songs which entitled "Gedebuk". And GELAGAT changed it's and minimized them into just 4 men in this upcoming 2nd album. They are : Didi(In Memoriam/vocal,guitar and keyboard), Efra(Kutikula/bass), Felix(After v.i.p/drums, Mario(guitar,screamer) and 'r (In Memoriam/piano,keyboard). Hope this year GELAGAT will finished the recording and soon in the beginning of year 2008, the 2nd album will be released by the same record label, Apa Lo! Records.
