About Me

Percussion instruments are probably the oldest ones. The drums are known to have existed since 6000 b.c., all over the world. The list of these instruments are almost infinite, bongos, timpani, darabukas, tambourines, congas, tabors, etc. The Drum Set was invented on the XIX century, after the invention of the bass drum pedal. This allowed a single person to play lots of percussive instruments. The great boom of drum sets happened in the beggining of the century, when Jazz musicians were accompanied by drummers. The standard drum set is composed by a bass drums, snare drums, tom-toms, hi-hat cymbals, ride cymbals and crash cymbals. There's usually two tom-toms and one of each of the others, but bigger drum sets were used to provide a broader variety of sounds. Famous drummers as Louis Belson, Keith Moon, Ginger Baker and Billy Cobham, used two bass drums. Rock drummers usually used a large amount of cymbals and tom-toms. Calfskins drum heads were replaced by plastic, a large variety of sticks were invented, cymbals were made by different materials and, nowadays, some drummers uses pads to activate previously recorded sounds with the sticks.AND IF YOU NEED SOME OTHER INFORMATION JUST EMAIL ME HERE AT MYSPACE OR AT [email protected]
