... Down to a Sunless Sea.

I am here for Friends

About Me

adopt your own virtual pet!
There is a wall between us. I
write upon it, in saliva : I LOVE YOU
because something ought to emerge from my lips
if not spoken, written, written loudly
but only visible from my side of the partition
I watch as it slowly dries, and disappears.
I can no longer tell you
things
so many things
you accompany me every day, every hour
observe and laugh at my mishaps
hold me when I need the darkness
not here
not here
And God is sitting in his living room
with the evening paper, the cat, the dog, the cup of tea
irritated that I cannot wait another moment
while I buzz the intercom again.
I write, softly, on the wall :
i love you.
[ Because ... love is a many - aspected thing. ]
all things must pass
and you too
must
leave, go
out to sea, see
what i have seen
things i wished
to warn you about
and must experience
on your own
take your pain
sail it out
and exorcize your
demons; talk to them
wearing them around your neck, like a crucifix
and how i envy those gold evils
how i wished to taste that skin
to bury myself beneath sweat and cell and bone
and cut my tongue
on your shoulder blades
and thus i wait
beneath my waves.
"The world has no room for cowards. We must all be ready to toil, to suffer, to die. And yours is not less noble because no drum beats before you when you go out into your daily battlefields. And no crowds shout your coming when you return from your daily victory or defeat."
-- Robert Louis Stevenson
When you are old and gray and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true;
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face.
And bending down beside the glowing bars
Murmur, a little sadly, how love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
-- W. B. Yeats (1865-1939)
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message: He is Dead.
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.
W.H. Auden, Funeral Blues
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leafs a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
-- Robert Frost
As so with that, I thought I'd take a final walk
The tide of public opinion had started to abate
The neighbours, bless them, had turned out to be all talk
I could see their frightened faces
peering at me through the gate
I was looking for an end to this, for some kind of closure
Time moved so rapidly, I had no hope of keeping track of it
I thought of my friends who had died of exposure
And I remembered other ones who had died from the lack of it
And in my best shoes I started falling forward down the
street I stopped at a church and jostled through the crowd
And love followed just behind me, panting at my feet
As the steeple tore the stomach from a lonely little cloud
Inside I sat, seeking the presence of a God
I searched through the pictures in a leather-bound book
I found a woolly lamb dozing in an issue of blood
And a gilled Jesus shivering on a fisherman's hook
Babe
It seems so long
Since you've been gone away
And I
Just got to say
That it grows darker with the day
Back on the street I saw a great big smiling sun
It was a Good day and an Evil day and all was bright and new
And it seemed to me that most destruction was being done
By those who could not choose between the two
Amateurs, dilettantes, hacks, cowboys, clones
The streets groan with little Caesars, Napoleons and cunts
With their building blocks and their tiny plastic phones
Counting on their fingers, with crumbs down their fronts
I passed by your garden, saw you with your flowers
The Magnolias, Camellias and Azaleas so sweet
And I stood there invisible in the panicking crowds
You looked so beautiful in the rising heat
I smell smoke, see little fires bursting on the lawns
People carry on regardless, listening to their hands
Great cracks appear in the pavement, the earth yawns
Bored and disgusted, to do us down
Babe
It seems so long
Since you've been gone
And I
Just got to say
That it grows darker with the day
These streets are frozen now. I come and go
Full of a longing for something I do not know
My father sits slumped in the deepening snow
As I search, in and out, above, about, below
Babe
It seems so long
Since you went away
And I
Just got to say
That it grows darker with the day
-- Nick Cave, Darker With The Day
I'm too cold to be alone this winter,
I'm too old to be alone.
I just want to hold you this winter,
I know you get so cold.
I just want to call you this winter.
Where are you tonight?
Why aren't you here?
You should be looking after me this winter,
I sure as hell can't.
Behind everything I do stares the cold truth I don't have you.
I still love you, I must be the world's biggest fool.
Everyday I wish you weren't so braw coz I miss you.
How am I supposed to unmake the world's biggest mistake.
I don't want to be your open wound all winter; you don't need to see me cry.
I think I need professional help to get better,
this may take some time.
My life is dead and I can't see a future,
I never could and I still can't.
Do you still think I'd make a terrible father?
I guess his blood still runs in me.
Behind everything I do stares the cold truth I don't have you.
I still love you, I must be the world's biggest fool.
Everyday I wish you weren't so braw coz I miss you.
How am I supposed to unmake the world's biggest mistake.
-- Malcolm Middleton
Don't you have a word to show what may be done
Have you never heard a way to find the sun?
Tell me all that you may know
Show me what you have to show
Won't you come and say
If you know the way to blue?
Have you seen the land living by the breeze
Can you understand a light among the trees?
Tell me all that you may know
Show me what you have to show
Tell us all today
If you know the way to blue?
Look through time and find your rhyme
Tell us what you find
We will wait at your gate
Hoping like the blind.

Can you now recall all that you have known?
Will you never fall
When the light has flown?
Tell me all that you may know
Show me what you have to show
Won't you come and say
If you know the way to blue?

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People that still say " Crikey !! " , knights that say " NI !! ", and, of course, machines that go, " Ping !! ".

Those who feel the breath of sadness
Sit down next to me
Those who find theyre touched by madness
Sit down next to me
Those who find themselves ridiculous
Sit down next to me
Love, in fear, in hate, in tears

Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down,
In sympathy

[ James, Sit Down ]

I love eclectic surprises as well . I suppose that a motto of mine could be , ' if it holds any intellectual challenge and interest , I'll read it ' ; of course , walking around all day stating that to myself and others would be a bit pretentuous . And odd . But I will make an effort to read it . I try to read as much as I used to when I was a kid / teen - which is a lot . Despite my suspicions that I might be an undetected ADD Allstar . Oh , well. Maybe not.

Heroes:

I adopted a cute lil' Scotty fetus from Fetusmart! Hooray fetus!

Well, no, not yet. I wish. I met the Last King of Scotland down at the pub last month ( well, that's who he said he was, anyway; it was a bit dark, I was a bit drunk, he was more than a bit charming and persuasive, and ... ); I told him of my burning desire to obtain Honorary Scot status. He said I had him at 'burning desire'. Apparently, I haven't had him enough. I still have 654,000 times to go before I am honoured aforementioned coveted title. Hrm.

Our cows are very fond of Hip - Hop.
