DJ Loki

Gotta get up to get down.

About Me

Loki got his first pair of turntables near the end of 2001. They were Stanton Str8 50s (belt driven...rubberband) turntables. His first mixer was a Gemini mixer. His influences for wanting to learn how to scratch and mix correctly and creatively were groups like the Beat Junkies, 5th Platoon, the X-ecutioners, and later the Invisibl Skratch Piklz and the Allies. As with alot of people who encounter turntablism for the first time the question is “how do they do that!?” At the end of that year, the confusion cleared and the concepts of mixing and scratching were no longer foreign. It was apparent that better equipment would be needed. This equipment would be found in the Stanton Str8-100 turntables and Stanton SK2F, SA-12 (Craze) mixers. Everything must happen for a reason because learning on cheaper equipment allowed for an appreciation and better technique on the more expensive equipment. Most people may say that you get what you pay for when it comes to the electronics. Of course he would've loved a pair of Technics.
In 2002 it was off to Gainesville, Florida to go to school at the University of Florida. Here he would meet DJ Spynfamous and a short time later DJ Intricutz. The three would become a crew, spinning at parties together and feeding off one another’s skills in mixing and scratching. Also at UF, Loki would become a part of the Hip Hop Collective, allowing him to spin at bboy jams and competitions. Throughout the years he would hold residencies at several clubs in Gainesville and be the headlining DJ for one of the biggest events held in Gainesville called Def Talent Jam. He would also spin several mixshows on Magic 101.3 and 100.5 The Buzz, local radio stations.
Always looking to move forward and take the next step, he now steps into the competition and mixtape scene while continuing to rock parties and events better than most.
