D iddy's Making The Band 3, 1st season finalist Natasha Walton, better known as La Femme NIKITA hails straight out of the Lone Star State of Texarkana, Texas! Natasha had a natural love for music. Coming from a loving and very spiritual family, singing for the good Lord always came first. Natasha had been singing solos in church, performing in talent shows and writing her own songs since the age of 7. At the age of 13 Natasha started rapping, thus her alter ego La Femme NIKITA was born. Soon after her 18th birthday, she decided to take a chance at furthering her career by moving to the East Coast! New York, NY "Big City of Dreams," no doubt her first choice being influenced by artists such as Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill, Nas, The Notorious BIG, and Jay-Z. Natasha settled in East Orange, NJ, where she got a taste of the inner city street life. Moving to the East Coast was a major culture shock, and a huge transition for her, but she adapted quickly. Seizing the opportunity for a big break, she auditioned for MTV's Making The Band 3, and was selected to compete in the finals. Although she didnt make the band, Natasha was able to network her way into signing with the prominent independent label She Records. Soon Natasha, began recording in their Manhattan Studio. Her first recording was "So In Love," which became an instant hit among major label execs and A&R's! But it wasn't until Natasha recorded a free-style over Young Buck's "Stomp" they caught wind of this alter ego La Femme NIKITA. After successfully recording a number of songs in the studio, both She Records and Natasha decided to call on her alter ego La Femme NIKITA, to release a Hip Hop/Rap album, with Natasha Walton following closely behind her with an R&B release. The process began with Nikita, traveling back and forth between New York and Texas, recording, rehearsing, and performing, gearing herself up for the release of her debut independent album titled, nom de code: NIKITA. Part of that process includes working with a Dallas producer who she is quite comfortable with, Pozart, having grown up with him. East Coast producer Sleep Nitty of 187 Music provided some gangsta flow, as he did with Essex Countys notorious rap group LAWLESS. The Midwests Mad MaXxx and Cali producer DJ Fathom also contributed work to the album! In June, 2006 She Records' released La Femme NIKITA's first single and music video "Ain't Nuthin". When asked about Hip-Hop today she says I love the fact that artist such as myself, with a huge fan base have the option of being independent. I pocketed 93% of the return off my download sales, a little over $20,000 to date. She quickly created a national buzz selling worldwide attracting major label attention! Recently, she has been featured in the first issue of the Underwire Interactive Magazine , that sold well over 500,000 units, WHO?MAG TV & DVD Magazine , and Worldwide Westside Magazine . WHO?MAG TV airs twice a week prime time on COOLTV, which is based out of the UK. The show airs in over 40 countries and reaches over 120 million households! WHO?MAG DVD, is distributed nation wide via Suncoast, Best Buy, Sam Goody, Block Buster, and Net Flix. Her feature in WWS Magazine garnered such a huge response, she was asked to do the cover for the first issue of their Indie Edition!
