I'm 1/2 Hispanic, 1/2 Irish- a good explanation why my music and me travel over a wide & weird world of musical styles.I'm Sagitarrius, so there.I love Selena...and Shave Ice.Born Mary Elizabeth McCarroll (don't tell anyone), Southern California where a vast range of musical styles played on our family hi-fi, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Stevie Wonder, Merle Haggard, Petula Clark, Frank Sinatra, The BEATLES, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Cash, Motown, The Kinks, Dave Clark Five, Beach Boys, Joni Mitchell.Played some kind of musical instrument since I was 7.At 16, I heard Joni Mitchell, a whole new world of music and open tunings entered my world...then I moved to Hawaii for 3 years. Fell in love with the islands forever.In the early '70's I worked at the (now defunct) 'Great American Food & Beverage Co’ in Westwood Village as a ‘singing waitress’. There, I met and played in a band with Lee Jude aka 'Lee Ving' (lead singer of the Punk Band 'FEAR'). Lee & I used to perform as a duet singing 'Woody Guthrie' and 'Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty' songs at Thursday night's Talent Contest at the famous, but gone, Palomino Club in the valley.In 1979 I moved to New Mexico on her way to Nashville "haven't made it there yet".NM bands I've been in and some of the musicians;
