Rost

Rock. From Glasgow.

About Me

Based in Glasgow, Rost are a 4-piece band playing their own unique take on grunge rock. Originally hailing from as far apart as Aberdeen, Ayrshire and south-west Germany, Rost show a wide range of musical influences, reflected in their varied backgrounds. The band were formed around a core love for straight-up rock from the likes of Black Sabbath, Soundgarden and Fu Manchu, but with the band members’ own tastes covering everything from ambient post-rock to thrash metal and funk. Cited as influences are Karma To Burn, Corrosion of Conformity, Kyuss, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, The Police, Slayer, Crowbar, Gomez, Incubus, Shellac and Helmet. Rost’s sound is not ashamed or afraid to encompass any musical territory – with a finely tuned vocalist, a soul-crushing riff machine on guitar, a powerful punchy bassist thickening things up, an aggressive technical drummer blowing your ears out, and even the addition of trumpet – there’s very little this band can’t do musically.
Update: Rost are no longer musically active. We'd like to thank everyone who sent us messages that we didn't reply to, and apologise to them at the same time! Due to various other commitments and things going on, we had to call a halt to gigging and recording, although we never really split - call it one of those "indefinite hiatus" thingies if you will.
As of now, Carsten's still plugging away with his own Taiga Blues project, Kenneth's last musical activity was with the almighty Hope Abandoned, and TJ's away in America learning to fly helicopters. I've just finished an album with a band called The World At War, although I'm planning to move away to New Zealand for a bit at the end of August.
