About Me

Gads, no, don't make me write another pointless, rambling, social networking profile. You just can't condense my complexity down to 500 words or less.

Though you can glean most of it from my Internet presence on these sites:

My Interests

Reader-geek, writer-geek, real-time blogger-geek, music-geek (expert at 6-Degrees of separation from Deep Purple), podcasting-geek (Indy In-Tune, the Incest and Morris Dancing Hour, and occasionally appearing on various shows throughout the podosphere as the enigmatic "Terry the Toad"), computer-geek (professionally), baseball-geek, culture jammer (the medium is the message), aficionado of the shared hallucination of cybernetic society and culture, and unabashed master of all things relating to darts, beer, C&C, UT, RPGs, hair-brained schemes (now hiring), and/or driving startup software companies into the red ...

I'd like to meet:

People I lost touch with ages ago ... well, at least the ones that I didn't intentionally lose touch with ... and the ones I don't owe money to ... and maybe some new people ... if they're interesting ... and not too creepy ... you know, someone just like you ... only not you ... you stink ...

Basically I just want someone to love me for my money.

Music:

As a performing wart on the nose of the Indianapolis music scene since '86, I can objectively lay claim to breaking up most of the worst Boston/Journey/Rush cover bands in the metro area. I am also the former "Billy Preston of The Fabulous Huckleberries," the former "Ian Stewart of the former Blue Tear," (Formerly: "Into the Mystic") and -- if my official marketing and PR agent, Johnny Lyles, is to be believed -- I'm the "Jann Wenner of the Indianapolis Music Scene." (If you're lost -- or too young -- just Google those guys).

Musical tastes include:

Local: Vilafishburn, Jeff DeHerdt, Dirty Third, Jeremy Vogt, Five 'Til Dawn, Cathy Morris, Brazil, Ashworth, ESW, Blue Tear (... well, and others, but I limit myself to 10 here).

Indie/Unsigned: Protoplanet, Munk, Bajakaloop, Adrina Thrope, Edensong, Gentle Readers, Break the Dark, George Hrab, [ikoz], Jonathan Coulton

Prog: Yes, Rush, Adrian Belew, ELP, King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, Frank Zappa, Dream Theater, Mike Oldfield, Genesis

Jazz: Chick Corea, Al DiMeola, Allan Holdsworth, Billy Cobham, John Coltrane, Wes Montgomery, Tony Williams, Branford Marsalis, Miles Davis, Jimmy Rowles

Metal: Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Nine Inch Nails, Iron Maiden, Disturbed, Soundgarden, KMFDM, Motorhead, A Perfect Circle, White Zombie

Others: Eric Clapton, Deep Purple, Allman Brothers, BB King, Traffic, Phish, Robert Randolph, Rare Earth, Live, Rolling Stones

Movies:

Anything by Alfred Hitchcock, John Carpenter, Quentin Tarrantino, Kevin Smith, Steven Speilberg, Joss Wheedon, or George Lucas (except Howard the Duck). Anything with Humphrey Bogart, Kevin Spacey, Jeff Bridges, Michael Madsen, Woody Allen, the Marx Brothers, Kurt Russel, or Clint Eastwood (Except Bridges of Madison County). Anything featuring nekkid girls, explosions, spaceships, monsters, superheroes, or ray guns (Except Alien Ressurection).

Television:

Heroes, Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Red Dwarf, 24, Firefly, Iron Chef, the local doppler radar loop, test patterns, and the program that keeps telling me to call ext. 720 to order.

Books:

Still a big sci-fi, comic book, and pulp mystery junkie after all these years. Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, William Gibson, Joel Rosenberg, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Hunter S. Thompson, Maggie Estep, Kurt Vonnegut, Gary Snyder, Jack London, Neil Gaiman, Frank Herbert, Bruce Sterling, Neal Stephenson, Stephen Baxter, L. Ron Hubbard, Phillip K. Dick, Phillip Jose Farmer, coloring...
