About Me

Please put this banner on your Profile!!!
"There's a real RxBandits tone to the guitars and brass on this record. Early RxB too, for me that particular band's best era. And while I couldn't possibly say if the sound was purposeful or not, it makes Splendid Eddie a very enjoyable listen. Six song EPs are perfect for whetting the listener's apetite and leaving them gasping for more and this record does exactly that - and I don't even like 'ska' (not that this band are solely a ska band).
'Too Many false Dawns' kicks things off in great style. There are so many influences going on, bold and brassy trombones, searing vocals and even some backing screams. In a way it's like Incubus colliding with RxB. It's their efforts to avoid sounding like a conventional ska band that make their songs so interesting. There's a very laidback feel to 'Fan of the Famine' too. As a first introduction, I'm impressed. Getting this record out on the road will almost certainly yield positive results."

Please note - the following is an attempt to big ourselves up so that you will like us more and want to have our babies. By no means does this mean that it will work, and may we apologise in advance for the constant flipping between 1st and 3rd person:
Splendid Eddie are a 6 Piece Ska/Rock/Anything that seems like a good idea at the time band who Hail from the picturesque Petersfield toen in the lovely county of Hampshire, in England. The band formed in late 2004, and after doing nothing much except practising lots, arrived as we are in early 2006. We self-released our debut album, ‘A Legacy to Follow’ in April 2006, to a near sold out crowd at the Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms, and after a year of hard gigging, released our follow up EP, ‘Every New Day Scenario’, which came out on the 19th August 2007 on Party House Records.
Over the past 2 Years, Splendid Eddie have had the Fortune of sharing the stage with a multitude of widely renowned acts such as The Matches, The Toasters, Elliot Minor, Sonic Boom Six, Adequate Seven, Fandangle, The Display Team, Pickled Dick, and many, many more. In September 2007 the Band completed their first UK tour, aptly named the "Ethel, please don't break down" Tour, after their dubiously reliable but much loved bus.
Splendid Eddie parted ways with their vocalist Kyle in June 2008 due ti musical differances (and we thank him for all the inout over the years!)He has now been replaced by James Hollins, who is just lovely.
All the recordings up were made with our old singer, we will be recording with james soon!!!
So anyway, have a listen to us, see what you think, check out the links, and talk to us! :)
