still finding out what this world's about - Tragedy Andy, 'Ballad Of The Swan'

About Me

Anyone wanna take me to California - particularly San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose area - to see friends, bands, Alcatraz, Pier 39, Warped Tour and more? Anyone? haha
I'm currently in my second year at BCUC in High Wycombe studying Psychology with Criminology, it's alright I guess, not what I hoped it would be but next semester sounds pretty cool. I'm still a bit of a big kid, but I feel you should always stay in touch with your inner child, it keeps you grounded and stops you getting too caught up in the madness of the big wide world heh. I appreciate the little things still.
I love a band called Tragedy Andy (from NorCal) a lot because they are a bit of everything I like about music - melody, passion, catchiness, good lyrics, bit of variety - and are lovely guys who can perform well live too (well from what i've seen on webcasts!) but for no particularly meaningful reason they are a big part of me - you don't know me well if you haven't heard of Tragedy Andy heh. Watch the video (not made by me but I felt it promoted them better than the tribute ones I made!)
.. width="425" height="350" ....
^ Thanks To Morgan for the pics and Katie for the T-Shirt :-)
I sometimes write for a zine called Beat Motel - I have a column called 'Who's Jess Whoring Now?' but since the deadlines have been less strict it's been harder to remember to submit stuff, though I should be doing some reviews soon :-) Other than that I dunno what else to say at the moment really, get in touch if you wanna but please message first rather than just adding me! Laters xx

My Interests

Music
Going to gigs (I like to collect setlists if possible too heh)
Watching DVDs (more comfy at home with friends heh).
Nothing better than a good gig tho, I feel most happy at them usually.

I'd like to meet:

Tragedy Andy, Damon Scott!, B, Ewan McGregor, Amanda, my online/overseas buddies (Chris I/Chris (Helgaiden)/Lila/Katie/Linh etc), Pistolita, Plain White Ts , Ian, Pez, Adam Buxton/Joe Cornish, Luke De Lacey, Matt Willis , Dougie Poynter, Nick Swardson, Trevor Lissauer and more..
I'd also like to meet someone who's in touch with their inner child like me and gig buddies! Anyone who wants to come gigging with me in Wycombe or London who has similar music tastes, get in touch cause gigs seem to be ace for meeting people heh :-)

I take music band by band but have a soft spot for pop punk/punk and that. I LOVE ska lots, more 2nd wave and 3rd wave upbeat and some skinhead stuff I guess - anything skankable! The lil scenesters that kinda jump and kick their legs forward a lil bit kind of annoy me, bloody go for it people swing your arms about and bring your knees up! But I do appreciate the tradition. If there's a lack of ska bands in the list it's cause ska is ska to me and I haven't found many bands in particular that stand out..I need more ska and more ska shows! Any recommendations?

Books:

Terry Trueman - Inside Out & Stuck In Neutral and The Gremlins book, can't remember who wrote it but explains the creatures more.

Heroes:

Friends - I don't show it but without them i'd be even less sane than I am now! haha
Derren Brown - He's a jedi in disguise. haha.Daria - For being what I wish I had the confidence/wisdom/wittiness to be. Yes I know she's fictional.
Damon Scott - For reminding me that I loved 'No Matter What'. For making me go from laughing to almost crying (when the judges/audience were being arses) to jumping off my chair in joy/victory. Twice. For trying something different. For not giving up. For being himself.
Tragedy Andy - To quote Almost Famous: "They don't even know what it is to be a fan. Y'know? To truly love some silly little piece of music, or some band, so much that it hurts."
Ewan McGregor - Because he should be an example to every man out there, especially those in the limelight and because I've been a fan since I was 12.
