About Me

Hi, my name is John & I'm a waxaholic. Anything vinyl, mp3, cd, 8-track or sattelite compatable!! Sometimes, if I can't score anything else, I'll mainline a cassingle. Every couple months I can manage to clean up and devote some of my extra time & money for photo-art supplies. When I'm not indulging in the creative-destructive pursuits, I devote myself to my beautiful 4 year-old mini-me. And in between all that, I try to show up to work on time.click on the image to download my new mix, STRANGEGAZE!!!

My Interests

my son, photography, art, dj'ing, movies, reading, computers, video mixing and my friends & family...

Music:

There are 2 kinds of music in this world, good and bad, I like the good: at the top of my list right now: techyfunkapsychodelicelectroprogressivehouse&breakbeats: James Holden (anything on Border Community), Swayzak, Thomas Fehlmann, Gui Boratto, Superpitcher (the entire Kompakt Cologne sound is amazing!), Trentemoller, Santos, Tom Real, alloy mental, roxiller, ils, tipper, Soundex, virus b-23, soteg, elite force and all that rocks downtempojazzambiental: kruder & dorfmeister, thievery corp., funki porcini, coldcut, amon tobin, tosca, hexstatic, dj food, anticon, fila brazilia, anything orb/badorb even orbital (though that's not exactly downtempo), miles davis, shirley horn, dub, there's so much great dt i could go on forever RocknRoll: Radiohead, flaming lips, primus, whitesnake... yeah, i said whitesnake & megadeath. shouldn't megadeath make up for whitesnake? classic rock, i love a good power ballad, even the occasional country ballad. blues, esp. countrified blues like the Ween country album and early, early Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, R.L. Burnside: classical - there's just so much good music and I love it all (except for polka, i can't stand polka, but every once in awhile, i'll sit still for a barbershop quartet)...

Movies:

oh, so many, Apocalypse Now is an all-time favorite "I love the smell of napalm in the morning.... smells like, victory", Drugstore Cowboy, Life Aquatic, I heart Huckabees, Eternal Sunshine, The Shining (all things Kubrick), Raising Arizona, Fargo, Donnie Darko, Kill Bill v.1 & 2, (anything Tarantino), City of the Lost Children, Delicatessen, Hate, War of the Worlds, Requiem for a Dream, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, Trainspotting, Better Living Through Circuitry, Team America: World Police, all the Hitchcock films, esp. North by Northwest & Vertigo....The list goes on and on.........

Television:

Not too much tv, it will rot your brain, I do wind down my day with that 70's show and just shoot me. I love Malcolm in the Middle and the Simpsons...

Books:

Tom Robbins (half asleep in frog pajamas is a favorite), Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami (I want to read more of his books). The short stories and poems of Charles Bukowski are always around.
