This is the official MySpace page for Karaoke for the Cure, a benefit for the Keep a Breast Foundation. An annual event held at Steiners and put on by Cat Smith and friends. This is also the page for Plastered Pinups, one of many shows planned to be held in Northern California. Plastered Pinups is a splinter of a much larger show, Breast Defense, to be held at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas starting this summer. We will have a number of pinup girls, and Northern CA celebrities torsos cast for pinup artists, tattoo artists, hot rod artists, etc to paint. We will then auction them off this summer at an exclusive show amongst the vines of a Sonoma Winery.
We are currently seeking castees and artists. We will also need a professional photographer, knowledgeable in the pinup genre to help with a few classic photo shoots for our advertising. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact us here!
Thank you so much to everyone who participated in this year's event held on October 12! Congratulations to the winners of the contest, tied between Jesse and Katie! After we sell just a few more shirts (still available for $20 at Steiners Tavern in Sonoma, or contact me here)we'll have raised $4000, double last year!
Special thank yous go out to all of our volunteers and judges (David of KSVY and Codi & Thomas of the Whiskey Thieves), Kathy Carmichael for her super speady t-shirts, Alex & Sonoma Girlie Stuff, Danny Boy for oh so many things, Matt of Karaoke with Matt & Cat, Lisa Marvier & Blink Ink, our brave bachelors Gabe & Chris, our even braver bachelorettes Jen Sharon Colleen & Thyda, the Quackenbushes & Rileys & Smiths, Cindy Ray of the Sun, Mayo Family Winery, Jason Ghiselin, both Meghans of Steiners, everyone who donated and especially Paul & Steiners Tavern & staff without whom none of this would be possible!
Yay us for winning a first place ribbon in our category in the Vintage Festival parade! Congrats to bartender Meghan for winning the t-shirt auction, "Sexy Momma" who won a magnum of wine in the MySpace only raffle, and all of the other raffle prize winners.
As you may have heard we are planning an art auction for this summer in the Keep a Breast manner. This year's theme is Plastered Pin Ups to include plasterd torsos of rockabilly and pin-up models, and artists of the same nature (which includes hot rod and race car artists as well as tattooers!) It will be a grand event with swing dancing, three bands, and more! More info on that will be readily available on the completion of Karaoke for the Cure.
The Keep A Breast Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to help eradicate breast cancer by exposing young people to methods of prevention, early detection and support. Through art events, educational programs and fundraising efforts we seek to increase breast cancer awareness among young people so they are better equipped to make choices and develop habits that will benefit their long-term health and well-being.
