Sounds Like: The Scissors blend their broad spectrum of influences into a driving, melodic style of punk rock. You will not find yourself saying, “. . .this band meets that band.†The Scissors are four song writers bringing four different musical tastes and backgrounds to each and every song. Commencing in 2002, and enduring line-up changes along the way, the band has squeezed out three releases during their tenure. The Riv Rat Rob EP (2002), recorded at Atlas Studios in Chicago, includes seven songs tracked solely for fun and gave the band a direction to go in stylistically, and enough of a reason to keep moving in it. Tijeras (2004), the first full-length, also recorded at Atlas, featured a new line-up along with a more refined sound closer to what you would hear from The band today. VIVA (2006, 2007-Bouncing Betty Records), is the latest full-length and boasts thirteen tracks recorded by Matt Allison (Alkaline Trio, The Lawrence Arms, The Methadones) at Atlas. The Scissors are a product of Chicago Music. The songs reflect it. The Scissors take pride in it.
