The Wednesday Club met while sharing stage left for the Divine Comedy's Absent Friends tour in 2004. Catherine was masquerading as a jobbing backing singer but was terrified by the sheet music and John was teaching himself to play the banjo as quickly as possible. They sat up late on the tour bus with warm lager, realised they both liked Harriet Wheeler and decided they may as well keep in touch.They started writing songs a year or so later and managed to get into the studio together about once every three months. Finally they had nearly finished 5 or 6 songs and thought they might like other people to hear them.....
