Derek Stroh

Hello! This is Derek Stroh. Thank you for taking the time to read this short musical Biography.If I were to describe my sound, I would say that I'm "easy on the ears." I enjoy music that swings, as well as a beautifully interpreted ballad. My influence is derived from a variety of genera’s. If I had to choose a sound that moved me more than any other, it would definitely be American roots music. Whether it's Jazz, Soul, Country, or Blues, I dig the great old songs of Yesteryear. I have always felt this passion since I was a child. Old soul I guess.I'm very selective of the music I choose to interpret. It has got to move me. I must be able to see myself living the song in order for me to portray it‘s message to the listener.I am a self taught vocalist. I’ve had no formal training other than many , many hours of singing in the shower. I have been performing since the age of 13. Also a self taught guitar player, I have been a member of several bands that have covered a variety of musical styles, Finally deciding that I feel most at home singing the songs of “The Great American Songbook” or more commonly known as “Sinatra stuff”.I currently reside in a south suburb of Chicago. I perform regularly for several local establishments, in addition to many corporate and private events throughout the Chicago land area and abroad.I love what I do, and I look forward to an exciting future in this business. For me there is nothing greater than living my life to the rhythm of song.
