hi everyone and welcome to Custom Jewelry by Solange. I have been making jewelry ever since I was a little girl. I used to gear mostly to shinny beads and used clear fishing string. When I was younger my family used to go on camping trips in the summer and Id always bring my jewelry with me, setting up my own table and selling to different people in the camp ground. In high school, we were obligated to take an art class as an elective. Thankfully, I was able to pick jewelry. I had the best teacher for four years. On our final project, I made this huge complicated pin made out of different metals, which was hand designed on paper by my artsy sister. Not only did I get an A on my final, but my teacher was even willing to pay big bucks for it. I turned down the offer and gave the pin to my mother who really deserved it and loved it.(She still has it, til this day). At the time I was selling beaded jewelry to friends in school. Mostly the guys who bought for their girlfriends. Then in College, I missed jewelry so much that I ended up taking a jewelry class at the art workshop. There I learned how to incorporate sterling silver in my jewelry making and made my first sterling silver ring, which I cherish deeply. Afterwards I taught myself how to use wire for stringing and I had never used crimps before, so that was a bit of a challenge, but I learned quickly. The rest is history. I just love to see peoples faces when theyre looking at my jewelry or wearing it. It brings this huge smile on my face to know that people enjoy my work and love my one of a kind designs. Not to mention, they make great gifts. I feel like Im expanding everyday. Ive just opened an account on indepublic and flickr and so far have seen great results from it. I also just started using gemstones and semiprecious stones in my jewelry and absolutely love the outcomes. I only hope to keep expanding and have my own jewelry shop one day in the future, money willing. ..
