The Groove Patrol is a constantly evolving musical organism that believes strongly in free thought, individual expression, and true, spontaneous creativity. It's members, past and present, have all played in wide varieties of musical ensembles, and bring these experiences to bear in fresh, new ways, every time we gather to create. We have played songs, spirituals, chants, charts, arrangements, symphonies, standards, heads, solos, riffs, vamps, and cues all of our life. Lately, we have taken to trying a new approach: just playing. We gather once a week at our favorite watering hole to collectively improvise a night of MUSIC. No words, no keys, no preconceived forms of any kind. Just interacting with each other and our surroundings in the most immediate way we can. We are not striving for a momentary ejection of adrenaline; we are striving to create a gradual, lifelong state of serenity and wonder to nourish ourselves and our friends and family. Music is joy.
