My Interests

MELISSALOVESSTUFF

I'd like to meet:

Jon Stewart, Conan O'Brien, Hot Hot Heat, U2, Keane etc. Any one of my Band "Friends"..... Find more videos like this on www.truveo.com.

Music:

OK Go - Do What You Want (Wallpaper Version)

Buy OK Go - Oh No at iTunes. etc. etc.

Movies:

Probably Favourite movie: "Ferris Buellers Day off"
Do I have to explain this one? Everything about it is awesome.

Movie I love but I'm ashamed to say: "The Fifth Element"
Shut up. You know you loved it.
"Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou".
Basically any movie I've ever seen with Bill Murray. Even that Elephant one, "Larger Than Life", i think?. I love that movie. Ghost Busters? Fricken awesome. Osmosis Jones... almost crappy.... Bill Murrays mere presence saved it. Wasn't Murray in Space Jam? oh damn i forgot about that one... I'll still say awesome, Bill even space jam can't make me hate you.

I know you will doubt my intellegence and the fact that I'm a girl when reading the next movies I list...

TERMINATOR MOVIES! screw the 3rd one... even my love for Clair Danes couldn't help that shitpile, I'm talking 1 and 2 baby... My dad has made me love Schwarzenegger movies. And Arnold on the bike picking up the kid and a truck blowing up in the background will forever be etched into my mind.

Screw it I'm changing that to Schwarzenegger MOVIES! I will list the awesome:
-kindergarten cop: bitches whats not to love. Arnold has a fricken Ferret! and they're friken kindergarteners! plus hardcore action.
-Last Action hero: You have no idea how jealous I was of this kid. I mean a golden/magic ticket, that concept blew my mind.
-Twins/Junior... When I was younger I thought these were the same movies... basically because they were boring/nothing blew up in both of them... nevermind these weren't awesome, forget I listed it.
-Jingle all the way: ok this is when he started running out of ideas. But I still say its ok... I mean I HATED his kid in the movie... one word BRAT!

JACKIE CHAN MOVIES....

I heart Jackie Chan. I love his movies... Except the ones with Owen Wilson. I may even say I love his movies more that the Guvenators but he wasn't a Robot (i don't think) so his awesome points are a bit lower.
I also like Romantic Comedies(See I told you I was a girl): Ex: "The Truth About Cats and Dogs" "My Best Friend's Wedding" and a couple more that I can't remember right now...

All in all I love movies that rock my socks.

Heroes:

I have lots of heroes... Basically anyone who has made it for themselves. Or have done anything to make my life or the lives of others enjoyable or at least livable.

Parents...

MY DAD: My dad, he can do anything I bet. I wish I was like my dad in many ways... I mean My dad could become anyone's friend in a matter of minutes. He knows how it really is in the world, and like any dad would do anything to protect my sisters and I. Really my dad has been through a lot. He'll never let you know he never went to college (well hardly) , and was probably voted most popular and got honours in the school of Experience.

Hes the best driver too. He prides himself on his clean driving record, and its not like hes a turtle, even when he goes 20 over the limit you feel safe, but when I'm with my dad I never feel scared.
MY MOM: Like my dad, my mom could easily be your friend... its not like she'd care if you were though. Her opinions are worn on her sleeve, but she won't shove them down your throat... unless your her daughter that is... My mom can do anything. ANYTHING. She sews, she cooks, she bakes, she has a green thumb, she's the best mom. ever. don't argue.

My mom has been through a lot too. A lot... everything. I'll just keep it at that... and even though shes in pain, she does what she has to do, for my sisters and the family. She always puts herself last, in every situation, right down to the dinner porportions.

I love my mom and dad.

Lots of my relatives could be considered heroes...certainly my grandparents and lots of my aunts and uncles have also gone thourgh a lot.

JFK: Not who your thinking... JESSE F.KEELER
I'm not obsessed with him. I just love everything that he embodies. JFK has done what he had to do (DFA1979...) and now he's financialy able to do what he really wants in life (MSTRKRFT). I mean I know it sounds harsh to all the dfa lovers, but hes done everything hes wanted and thats all that matters. JFK has the smarts and the skills, and has used them to become extremly successful criticaly and moneywise (I mean he, in my opinion, has used the dfa kiddies/wannabes, but that makes me love him even more). Thats probably a kind of success I will never reach, and I admire him for doing that.
Everything he does/owns/says is kick ass. And sometimes I wish I could be kick ass.

Examples:

JFK has countless white sneakers/white things to kick you in the face with.
JFK knows more about dance music than you. heck he probably knows more about music in general than you.
JFK is against drugs... becuase he thinks its for kids... if your over 20 and you do drugs you're a loser.
JFK doesn't care about you.
JFK doesn't care about me.
JFK doesn't care about your grandma.
etc.

But still JFK sometimes comes off as a nice guy, as long as you give the respect.

CONAN O'BRIEN: I love Conan. I love most funny guys, and girls for that matter. Being funny is not easy, and when someone can pull it off so seemlessly, I'm in awe. I think when you're able to make others laugh you are a hero, you've given joy to someone... you've made them forget about something horrible. And Conan's done that for me many-a-time. When Conan Came to Toronto I experienced my first fun almost parent free outing, It was like a right of passage. He's the one who made it all happen. He also exposed me to my first live band. It was Nickelback. HAHAHAHAHA! Thats why I almost always stick up for Nickelback when they are insulted. That brings me to another hero.

Micheal J. Fox: I saw MJF close up when I went to that Conan Taping in Toronto. It was one of the raddest moments ever. He really is a hero. I don't care what you say about him... and if you think having an illness doesnt make you a hero, then you are right. Being an awesome human being does. And that he is. He's been in tonnes of amazingly funny and rad movies and television shows. And he had done everything he can to devote himself to Parkinsons, and finding a cure. I honestly think he's a top notch hero, and should be regarded as one.

BONO: MOCK ME NOW! ok now stop. Bono, what can I say? How could anyone not think the B-man is a hero? Not only does he help create some awesome music, and is extremely talented, he has been a key component in the one campaign and the quest to stop poverty. Not to mention the man wears some of the most kick ass sunglasses known to man. Headlining the Live 8 and aid concerts, fighting for the world, kick ass sunglasses, and amazing talent. Bono is a hero fo sho.

Stereogum/The Going Coastal crew/DJ Shadow: I don't know if Stereogum is a hero per say... But I do look up to him. I have to say that I love his blog... www.stereogum.com. And also, even though he doesn't know it, he's helped me through a lot. I mean, he has had a big role in helping me realize music, and the different types that there are out there. Same goes for Matt Wells/Chris Nelson, and the one they call DJ Shadow from the wedge. I really hope none of those guys read this, that would be super embarrassing. Expecially since i've pmed Chris Nelson before lol.

OK go: They are the ones who brought me my first club concert. And it was free. I had won it off thier juggling club streeteam site. It was love at first sight for Ok Go. When I saw them dancing on the screen to thier catchy song "a million ways" I was hooked. I will forever love them. And they are heroes to me because they have become a big part of my life. And did you know Damian Kulash... the lead singer got put into jail just for sticking around after a show and meeting the fans? Now thats commitment... or drunken-ness... but I believe its commitment. From the awesome music they put out, to the people I have met due to ok go, and all the love they give thier fans... Ok Go are heroes in my eyes.
the boys from Queen: How could I call anyone a heroe and not mention Queen. I actually wasn't a fan of queen untill relatively recently. I mean I guess I've always known of thier songs (we are the champions, we will rock you etc) but I never really gave much thought on who made them... just in my mind public access songs that everyone knew and at that point not connected. The Fels and I have become obsessed with Queen. I know so many of thier songs and still have not listened to most thier collection. Every one is different and amazing, every one insane and addictive. Listening to a Queen song you haven't discovered yet is a joy and adventure, they really knew how to write amazing songs. That bass... shiz that bass. John Deacon could lick and spit and roll and bounce. ahhaahha those aren't real terms... I made them up but I think they work. :p Madd basslines. Brian May. "Brian may! Brian May!" I love. I love. His guitar solos drive me wild. A true legend in my opinion. Roger Taylor's drums are also insane. Just listen to "Stone Cold Crazy" and dissagree... you can't its impossible. And last but not at all the least Freddie. Sigh... Freddies voice could emote and be anything. Soft, hard, sweet, silly, rough, sexy, sad... ANYTHING. I mean I could never really know, but Freddie was amazing. I think one of the best qualities in anyone is the ability to be more than ok with yourself and still be a sweet human being. Freddie died at 45, even writting this makes me choked up and teary eyed. But I guess because he did posers like me are still discovering the legend that is Freddie Mercury. The boys from Queen were All true artists and craftsmen... so unlike some of the bands out there now. Queen holds a place In my heart. Enough of my ramblings go listen to Queen!
I'll post more later. expect to hear about Micheal Ian Black, and tonnes of others.
