Self | Is A Seed. It's a story four years in the making...
Taking root in Sydney's north-west in the early months of 2002, Self (as they were then known) hit the live scene and promptly set about perfecting their now distinctive sound: a blend of intricate, twin-guitar (David Bleus/Craig Smith) and bass (Andrew Haszard) interplay, combining with the evocative and thought-provoking presence that is vocalist/guitarist, David Bleus.
After paying their dues all over Sydney's premier venues and supporting acts such as Cog, The Butterfly Effect and Karnivool, they were ready to take the next step.
"Silent Parade to the Spine" - their debut EP - was released in November 2004 to a capacity audience at The Metro Theatre, and catapulted them to the forefront of the Sydney scene.
After replacing their original drummer with the powerhouse that is Preston Peachey, Self | Is A Seed hit the road. Hard. After just one show, Melbourne's BEAT MAGAZINE was already describing them as "exhilarating": even propelling them to several of the writers' "Top 5 Bands to Watch in 2006" lists. 2005 saw Self | Is A Seed touring south relentlessly, cementing their already formidable live reputation, and solidifying the foundation for what is to be their finest hour...
"Perspective", the new Mini-Album due June 2006, reflects the true progression of these four men: at once, dark, yet strangely beautiful. Menacing, yet totally inviting. After securing national distribution through CREATIVE VIBES, and an ensuing national tour in support of the release, SELF | IS A SEED are now set to take on the Australian music scene in the same way that they tackle their music: with unbridled passion and the incessant desire to succeed.
This "SEED" has now bore 'fruit'. Try some...
