FLASHWAVE

According to Wikipedia, a flash mob (or inexplicable mob) is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, then quickly disperse.I think that this phenomenon can be a great way to raise the consciousness to the Darfur cause as well as other social causes.What better way to have both fun and do something positive at the same time :)THE BIG IDEA: At any flashes, participants wear the same color shirt, have a small sign saying "Darfur" and make some noise like jingle their keys or use a clicker to draw attention. there could be many variations on this them like maybe writing DARFUR on pillow cases for a pillow fight mob etc. If this whole thing is done right, it can be turned into a nationwide flash mob event happening simultaneously at locations across the country.THE PLAN: on July 7th of 2007, at exactly 7:07pm in each time zone, groups from all over the country will do their activity for exactly three minutes or more wearing a tag, just like they wear in a marathon race, saying "save darfur" . The activity can be whatever is chosen by your own group........The result would be a "Wave" in time across many time zones moving from the EAST to WEST.The effect will be a FLASH WAVE across country.... "FLASH WAVE" would be sort of like the "WAVE" you see in a football game (or other sports events) where one section stands up and sits as the people next to them do the same thing until a wave makes it all the way around the entire stadium. A "FLASH WAVE" would be similar only instead of a continuous line of people in close approximation performing some action, the flash would be performed in EACH TIME ZONE at approximately THE SAME HOUR OF THE DAY. So if there are people in the Atlantic time zone doing this, they would perform their event at 7:07pm their time. People in the Eastern time zone, the one right next to it, would be performing their FLASH when its 7:07pm there, then the people in the Central time zone would do the same at 7:07pm their time and so on.... The result would be a "Wave" in time across many time zones moving from the EAST to WEST. It's really a fun thing to do... with a good side effect--focusing attention on the DARFUR CAUSE.THE PROOF: Video the Flash Mob and post it on the usual places like Youtube and myspace. Use the tags "flash wave" or "7-7-7" project.It takes NO MONEY from you. It takes LESS THAN 5 MINUTES of your life. It causes spontaneous joy and laughter. Sometimes you make a new friend or find a hot date. It creates lasting memories to produce hundreds of hours of stories to make your future grandkids groan. .......I would love to have this as an international event but that might be too much to hope for..... If you can gather some friends to do this and maybe pass on the word and tell other people of the idea, this can be successful :)Here are some videos of flashes from around the world :)I especially love the one at UCSB where they all sang along with the clock ringing. Every Campus seems to have a clock that does that... it would be fun to incorporate that in a Flash :)I laughed my butt off at the Chase Mobs in Japan. Unfortunately, we can't do that in this country.
