Be Devoted To Your Creator... Not What You Create.

About Me

style="visibility:visible;"

Vivienne Neville is an Oxford Brookes graduate songwriter who has been writing Contemporary Christian Music, worship songs and liturgical choir arrangements for 7 years.
Holy One is a work in progress and draws from experiences of my journey with God and others to date.I am aware of the danger we all face in whatever ministry we are involved in and that is being more devoted to what we create rather than being devoted to God the Creator. What fills the space of our minds? Is it me me me and what I am doing (for God) or is it God and our relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. There must be a balance in our lives.Even having a Myspace I question my reasons and motives behind this. I don't want to hear christian platitudes and cliche's...only God really knows our hearts and the real us. He wants our devotion to him first and everthing else after that. He wants hearts and lives that are totally devoted to Him. God is love and foremost in our lives he wants us to show His love to those around us in everthing we say and do. May we above everthing else pour our genuine love out to others."Help me to live from day to day In such a self forgetful way, That even when I kneel to pray My prayer shall be for others.Help me in all the work I do To ever be sincere and true, And know that all I do for you Must needs be done for others.And when my work on earth is done And my new home in heaven's begun, May I forget the crown I've won While thinking still of others.Others Lord yes others Let this my motto be, Help me to live for others That I may live for Thee.(can't remember who wrote this, the words are beautiful)
Many of my lyrics are taken straight from scripture “Peace Be Still” is a beautiful reminder that as we focus our eyes on God, He will calm the storms in our lives.
The song “I Am Here” draws our attention again away from the waters that sometimes rage around us, so that we are able to hear God whispering “Don’t be afraid, never fear, I AM here.” This song is a reminder that God is always with us and that he never changes. What we have in God is a security and permanence in life. In scripture we see the words “Do not be Afraid” over 300 times, God really is trying to tell us something here. However, unfortunately through the breakdown in family life many teenager’s and adults have trust issues. This song is a reminder that God can be trusted and is with us always.
“Holy One” is very special to me personally because it was originally a prayer I wrote after making a difficult decision. This prayer was written from the heart and conveys exactly what I was feeling at that moment in my life. It was also the first worship song I had ever written. Holy One, I come before you now, surrendered, fountain of life, draw me into the depths of your love, in stillness and silence, spirit of love, impart your peace.
“Lifestyle” is a call to salvation, but can be taken to the heart on many different levels. The opening was an actual conversation with a guy, " I saw you today, haven’t seen you in a while, how are you? Not good it’s my lifestyle.” This conversation lead me to begin thinking about the fact that, if we are honest we all have something in our lives or characters that we wish we could change. “Lifestyle” is an encouragement for change in whatever area of life that may be. “Where do you want to be? Do something about it”.
Song-writing for me is an expression of my Christian faith in pray, praise and devotion to the Lord. I desire that my music will serve the church and bring the truths of God’s love and presence to become a greater reality to those who listen to and sing these songs.
Writing these songs and working on the arrangements has been an important stage in my life and also an exciting and fun experience. God has blessed us richly. It is my pray and passion that my lyrics (which have come from deep within my heart and life experience), may impact the truths of God on those who listen and that God will be made more real to us as a Father who loves and cherishes us all.I am at the moment working with a couple of brilliant lyricists one who has written some amazing tracks for Iona...My CD will be released later this year, in the meantime my EP will be available soon...We are all a work in progress..."ONE DAY AT A TIME"EVERY BLESSING TO YOU
