About Me

About the songs:"9 in Soup"--an acid house created in 2004 on Fruity Loops 3."HeatWave--rough mix"--the rough mix from Lost In The Stacks' studio sessions of November of 2007."Sliding On The Floor"--A slightly better (and newly named) mix of a track (formerly "Untitled In G") created in 2007 using Garage Band (including various Garage Band loops), with alto sax overlaid and run through a distortion effect."BPL Beat 1"--A backing beat for a Brooklyn Public Library YA program involving poetry readings. One of my first Logic Express 8 creations. All the scratching is sampled, from Garage Band's library."Aphro Tech"--An edit of a 10-minute piece which was created on Logic Express. I think it was the first one I started (but not finished) when I got Logic.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: I create songs on my computer using Fruity Loops, Garage Band, Ableton Live, and Logic Express. Some of these are wholly computer-generated, others have saxophone or other tracks laid down over computer tracks.I play in 2 bands:One is Lost In The Stacks, a band of (mostly) Librarians from Brooklyn Public Library which plays rock, pop, and jazz standards. It's an 9-piece, with Jack on guitar; Eileen on guitar and vocals; Clyde on guitar, harmonica, percussion, vocals, and lord only knows what else; Steven on 6- and 12-string guitar; Richie on drums; James on bass; Sharon on flute; Harold on trombone; and myself on alto sax. LITS has played at BPL's central library, Coney Island Library, Saratoga and Dyker Libraries under the auspices of SAGE, and KeySpan Park; was featured on Brooklyn's Channel 12 in September of 2007; and recently played at City Hall Park as part of National Library Week celebrations. LITS recorded a 2-song demo in late 2007, and just completed recording four more tracks within the last month. We have plans to record some originals next, with an eye towards a full-length in 2008 or '09.The other is The Himalayas, an amorphous free improvisational marching big band collective multiperson organism. Kenny Wollesen is the main ringleader, there are too many other luminaries to list, and there are anywhere from 10 to 200 of us depending on the gig. The Himalayas play at Zebulon, The Stone, in parades and festivals and puppet shows and more, and have a double-CD out.In the past, I have played or guested with Major Lingo, the Johnny Lingo Trio, The Noodles, Slim Golba, John Conniff (of Rambling Rose, a Portland, OR, Grateful Dead cover band), the Big Bang Jazz Band, icn3d, Tommy Anderson, and numerous others.
